Tavares is about halfway to I75 from the TurnPike/408. It should be around a 45-60min trip for us. I might actually be going to this one since it's not that far and I have never been or done an auto-x.
944attack: Do we have to pre-register or just the day of?

yeah thats his car lol
id assume the brighter one is the right or maybe just aimed higher because the left hits oncoming traffic. His are disconnected because he took them out to put in the race car for a night race but never reconnected them back in

wow sorry guys for such a late reply, for some reason i never got your responces as new until goldfinger had just replied now, so i havent checked it... YES you can show up in the morning and pay and sign up, you dont have to pre-register, and only $25 bucks!
Goldfinger - im glad to hear some of you guys are going to make it out, it turns out some of my friends had to bail out because of various car problems and other issues, in fact my dad might not even be able to make it because my brother went into the hospital tonight for a wakeboarding accident, im not sure if my dad will have enough energy in the morning to make it, but if he does, keep an eye out for his e24!!
also, watch out for the T-fork on CR-448!!! the road ends by either going left or right on CR-448, and you must go right!!! the directions listed on the MSCC site above are missing this part, and often cause people to become lost. just lettin ya know if for some reason you happen to check this again at 1:15 in the morning..
LD - the headlight that looks brighter is the driver's side (so i guess the right side in the pic), i think the passenger's side just looks darker because it is reflecting off something. it had just confused me the first few times looking at it. what year is it? looks to be about... 79??

lol the right headlight isnt even all the way out... its ductaped on because neither are hooked up. Its probably the angle, because the headlights arent even on. Its a 74 targa carrera

lol ill try to find some.... i think the HSR website has some. The Targa is at Dave White's now in the trailer and the race car is in the garage here so my dad can work on it (instead of paying someone else $70 an hour to do it)

cool
well, this event started out awesome, the track design RULED and was tons of fun, but then a terrential downpour came and ruined everything, including many people's runs. eventually they called the event off due to some serious lightning, and everyone only got at most 2 runs. I didnt even get a chance to meet goldfinger and all the other BMW guys because i was so busy, but they were all out there. Hopefully next month's event at Gainesville will be more fortunate!
i saw your runs, but as I wasn't checking this thread much I didn't realize you were from FG! I agree the track layout was awesome...a little confusing for someone who hasn't autocrossed for nearly 4 years but still fun.
My 2nd run was junk, as it was in a lake, and I got completely lost. I need to remind myself to look further forward when I'm doing this. I get too caught up in the current gate and then don't look to the next one until I'm through so I ended up off-course.
I will definitely be there next month..hope to see you out there again.
doh...i just realized next month's event is a mini-prix at gainesville and I don't think I'll be allowed to enter. dammit
where can i autocross next month? I'm gonna be fiending to redeem myself after such a poor return to the 'lot.

why dont you think you'll be allowed to enter? it's practically the same thing, just farther away and way cooler! I was PM'ing with goldfinger about the event and how we never got a chance to meet and stuff, but i saw you guys there for sure, i wasnt sure if that was your car but it sure looked like it, i think i actually got a pic of your car..
by the way, there are actually two events in september, there is a regular auto-x at the same location on the 10th, and of course the miniprix on the 30th (which is actually supposed to be the october miniprix, but got changed to the end of september for track scheduling reasons). so no worries, there will be another regular event coming soon.

idk about another autoX next month, but the 27th of this month (august) theres an autoX with PCA at zephyrhills airport. No preregistration, you just show up
cool! thanks for the pic of my car.
i was confused...for some reason i didn't see the september 10th event on the mscc website. i'm pretty sure the mini-prix will not have a novice class and, as such, I will not be allowed to run. I remember that's how they used to run them, basically members/experienced drivers only. I'm fine with that as long as there's a normal one on the 10th..i'll be there for sure, hopefully there's no monsoon this time
944attack
08-17-2006, 03:10 PM
nope!!! the miniprix has novice classes, same as any normal event. When i raced there in April i was a novice, no problem. You really should try to make it out if you can, its tons of fun, and of course you will be allowed.
and yea the sep 10th event isnt posted up yet, theyre slow on that, but they have been talking about it on the forums a lot and its a go for sure. if i find a course map or any other info about the next events ill let you know!
