Either way they are both great places. My guess is more jobs in Tampa though.

Depends on what you are looking for.. List what you want first, before you ask for idea's...

i personally think they are oth getting overpopulated and the traffic is terrible in both areas...move into one of the border towns that still in the area...i think i prefer tampa...

I live in Orlando and the traffic is horrendous on I-4 and people don't know how to drive here plus there are so many tourists. I'd choose Tampa imho.

I'd choose Tampa... but I hate them both.
I spoke to someone from Houston the other day, and he hates it here.

After having lived in both Tampa and Orlando, I'd say the Tampa Bay area.

If you are into any sort of nightlife, both cities are terrible when compared to Miami ;)

Tampa is a great area, and Harbour Island has good apartments. It's close to the aquarium, the ice palaca (hockey), and ybor too. Shoot me a PM, my parents are real estate agents and can tell you alot more about the area.

I have lived in Palm Harbor all my life, it is very nice here, nice homes, most not on top of eachother like most neighborhoods. Work is hard because it is mainly a living community not so much industrial. It is a bit over crowded, but they are fixing many of the roads to better accomidate travel time. Like US19 has been getting some serious overpass construction that is a pain now but will be worth it later. Tampa is nice too, the biggest problem in Pinellas County is insurance, with Hurricanes getting a little stronger these past few years its VERY hard to get insurance and its expensive. I am sure it is cheaper to live in Orlando but there you deal with tourists more then Tampa. Tampa is fun, if your old enough to go out and know the right people to hangout with. So it comes down to:

Job, if you can afford tampa, do you want to live in an industrial area, or a residential? Do you mind frequent accidents by the elderly (they blame it on the roads....ha get the 80 year olds off the road). It really is nice here though. Good luck!

its not just pinellas county, its pasco, hernando, and basically all of florida. VERY hard to get insurance..let alone cheap insurance anywhere!

What about Westchase? That is definately an up and coming area (Just got a 2bd for $1100 /w garage).

I work in Largo (mostly industrial area). I can look for a QA position for you (what's your qualifications?)

So i guess my decision right now is Tampa, but where in tampa i have no idea all i know is right now i'm dropping everything i have in dallas and starting over in florida and i just need the right direction to get started. Thats why i have come here for advice. All i know right now from my budget and plans is that i need a job making 5-700 a week and want to live in a decent area and get a new/used car. SO i'll take any job availible but i prefer QA/engineering tech cause thats what im doing now.

Id probably recomend tampa. I havent lived in Orlando before, but I go there alot. I just couldnt stand living in a place with so many bloody tourists.

New Tampa is awesome, but like before said, with it comes the price tag. I think condos start around the 200's here, at least for a good one, from what I know. But you could live in like wesley chapel or somthing and be pretty close to everything New Tampa has to offer for less.

The business world is booming in Tampa. So if you're looking for employment other than like working at McDonalds or dare I say Disney World, Tampa would most likely have more openings.

I would move somewhere in Tampa and not O-town. I would rather be close to the beach and not a 2 hr drive.

good luck with finding an apt.... everything is turning into condos, for instance sean and I had a 900 sq. ft. 1 bed apt and we spent about a grand a month.. and they r now condos..... In new tampa all the nice apt.'s are tiny and expensive... here are some apt.'s that we looked at:

http://www.rent.com/property/images/375145/1/1/#content 1 bed i think was $850

http://www.rent.com/rentals/florida/tampa-st-petersburg-and-vicinity/tampa/tampa-palms/466814/1/?sp=1

it all depends on how nice of an apt. you want in what area i think tampa palms and west chase were the most expensive, but really nice areas...

thanks for all the help but looking at my financial situation i'm not going to be able to move for another six months or so. I know when I do move there that there is a good group of people I would like to meet.

Awesome. Sucks if it really takes that long, but we will be happy to show you around when you move :thumbu:
