I'll be doing a DIY w/ pictures on E36 sunroof repair either tomorrow or the next day. I feel that making FG more of a technical resource is essential for further growth.
:germanflag:
What is wrong with it? Do you need to replace the seal?
looking forward to it...somehow something in mine became disconnected and the inner panel no longer retracts automatically when I vent the sunroof. I also need to remove it to re-cover it but wasn't sure how to do it...one of the things not outlined in the Bentley manual :(

Right on John, but a the write up will help for all those who have no idea where to start. In the future I'll also be adding a sunroof motor replacement to the repair DIY.

I will help you call me
Dude call me at work (9-5) tomorrow, my cell is busted and I have no home phone. Other things have taken precedence, such as my farked alternator and flat tire.

Allright, well ... After a few hours tearing apart my sunroof I failed to make it work again correctly. At least now I can open/close it. It doesn't work the way it should though. I'm going to take the car in and have it fixed/replaced. I will also be in need of some body work as I totally ****ed up and used the wrong screws putting it back on ... I'll put it this way, there are two bumps in my roof now.
I'm an idiot.

Damn Mitch that's uber gay. I am doing the same thing! Sorta! Redoing my whole headliner in black material and the whole sunroof assembly has to be dis-assembled to do that panel :(

That assembly is heavy as hell. Just a suggestion, make sure you keep the bolts for the sunroof motor away from the bolts for that assembly.
