I like it alot. It's great. Taking some adjusting to since I had a S14 240SX and Z32 NA 300zx 2+2 as my previous cars. So I am coming from RWD, Japanese, non-turbo to FWD, German, turbo. Definitely different.

What gives me the most trouble I think is the wipers. The stick can move in 4 different directions while on the Nissan's it was much much simpler (so I think). You had on and off. And your turned it to indicate how fast or slow you wanted the wipes.

Eh. But it's a great engine, good chassis. Probably the best car for 22k around in terms of being a new car, good interior and exterior, sporty, and well rounded performer.

When I was shopping I also looked at the MCS, WRX Wagon, Honda Fit Sport, Mazda 3 Hatch. What I wanted was something good on gas (hehe, not if you're in boost) and w/cargo space. They all fit the bill. MCS was great but too many things were optional and not standard like on the MkV. WRX Wagon...eh, didnt like the new front end. Fit Sport...none available. Mazda 3 Hatch, too Ford like, poor quality, weak engine. So the GTI was a no brainer. Quick, decent handling, great interior w/great standard features, and a true hatchback.

Plans for the future would be simple: lower it, rims, chip. I want it to be reliable and get good gas mileage

(Sidenote: I still havent gotten my confirmation email...does it take a while?)

I was so close to buying one of those!(or the MCS) and in the same color too! I did like three months of research on it on european forums and i can confirm that its very great value for money. One of my only complaints with it was that although it had a ton of great standard features, the options it did have were only in packages.
Hey, check out www.uk-mkivs.net (http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forums/55054/ShowPost.aspx). This link shows you like 4 pages of tips and tricks that really show off the german engineering on the mkv and might help you take full advantage of your car.
Good luck with your new ride!

What did you want by itself? XM/Sirius is standalone as is the DSG. So if you wanted leather or the sunroof...yes those were part of packages.

I was just being picky. I learned all about them before they made it state-side, so I was used to the Euro-spec. I had my heart set for Electric Blue, no sunroof, no sat radio, but with dual-zone climatronic. The plaid seats changed a little too for us. also the ride height, while only a little higher, looks too high. So when they did arive here, I felt like i was making a bunch of compromises.

Like I said. I was being picky.

Welcome! did you see the link i posted on vortex?

I was hoping to get a United Gray... but back in Jan the first shipment was only white, red, and black magic... so I took the Black Magic and ran... :) Cleaning it is a bit of a chore, but I love it...

I've also got the 6mt... amazing shifter... good choice over the DSG Go-kart...

Score one more for the 6MT! Honestly, I dont care if it's faster...it's a gimmick/toy to me. If it's the future, then they should make it a no cost option. :thumbd:
