911 Carrera range...

Yes, I know it is my site, I compiled all of the new info for everyone. I hate doing recent news, unless it is of great appeal to me. But here is the new 911 pictures and info. I was up and saw the breaking news of the C4 and C4S, so I thought I might as well get some daily writing in.

I personally love it. What do you guys think?

its not breaking news. and nobody claimed it was. but since there aren't an abundance of facelifted 997 Carrera pictures on the forums, someone had to be the first - or one of the first - to post them, considering they've been around for a short while now. i for one am glad he posted them, b/c i haven't seen the facelifted 997 in detail yet.

...the taillights are hideous. the front bumper facelift is nice, but it doesn't look as good as the pre-facelift 997 front bumper (and no i don't mean the aeropackage bumper, just the standard one).

every time some company releases a new car they say its "all new"

all that means is that the products are new, they dont use previously produced body panels and such to make these cars

i stand corrected. i didn't see the OP's claims. i swear my reading comprehension is just fine - i just need to read ALL of the text next time :D. in fact, i just realized there is a link to an article above the first picture that i didn't see the first time around :banghead:.

but the question still stands (and i'm kinda wondering myself) - how is this breaking news? are these the first "official" photos or something? b/c, although i have not yet seen it in detail, i remember seeing these taillights quite a while ago - perhaps i was looking at spy shots or something? were the new engine/interior/transmission/etc. specs not made known until well after the facelifted pics were first revealed? either way, thanks for the info OP. i did not know they had made so many changes for 2009.

thats my point as well... its just a new year car. tails are a little different, front bumper a little different. only *major* difference is they are switching to direct injection on all of the engines.

i would consider the switch to PDK (the true dual-clutch transmission that allows for 60% quicker shifts) a major change as well. i think that has as much to do with the 2009 Carrera and Carrera S lapping the 'Ring so much quicker than their 2008 counterparts as direct injection does. while the 2009 Carrera S w/ manual tranny was only 4sec. quicker around the 'Ring than the 2008 Carrera S w/ manual tranny, the 2009 Carrera w/ PDK was a whole 12sec. quicker! being that both of the 2009 cars were equipped with direct injection, i'd say PDK shaves just as much time off a hot lap as direct injection, if not more (in this instance anyways).

i dont think the style of the taillights are bad, i think they just need to be bigger

The *new* information and pictures of the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models was just given to us today by Porsche... They had already given us the info on the C2 and C2S... The official pictures of the AWD Carrera's were released today, that is why it is BREAKING NEWS.

Do you think I would post it if it were three years old and call it BREAKING NEWS? No, I wouldn't. The body is entirely different. LD, the facelift means that there are possibly similar panels used, but most likely, if it looks changed then it's a whole new panel... Just like when the E46 3-Series was updated in 2002 for the Sedans. The front end was changed as were the taillight structure. If it is different, that means they changed it. I'm not going to say it's changed if it actually wasn't. Go check out Porsche's website and see how much they say it has changed and then try and come back to me on how it's no different...

I try to be nice and post and give you valuable information. Look closer, you will see every single detail change.

It's all good. I did the same thing this morning when I looked at them. I thought to myself 'didn't I already see these...?" Then I saw the light bar and realized it had to be the AWD's.

yeah i also forgot that the tail light on the engine cover is characteristic of the AWD 911's. i have to say, i liked that look better on the 996.

WOW ...pretty cool that they can duplicate the effects of specific lateral and longitudinal G-forces on oil (and any other engine fluids for that matter) simply by rotating the motor forward/back/left/right on two axes. good find!
