I'd say do it because of the weight you can save. Definately paint all the CF the color of the car though.

Definitely, just make sure it's a high quality hood. I've heard about a lot of poor filamet issues. :thumbd:

UV will destroy* a CF hood, so if you get one paint it and just use it for Light weigh..since a OE hood is heavy, heavy heavy.
* plus rock, road hazards, hail, etc. they are delicate compared to the OE.

If you get it and want to leave some CF, paint the majority of it DY and leave the BMW M checkerd flag unpainted on the front left corner.

If you want the best as far as C/F parts there is no better than MA Shaw. Vorsteiner is great but tha MA Shaw stuff is lighter and they use military grade C/F and a resin that is second to none (proprietary). Think about it: How many RACE cars do you see vith Vorsteiner parts (none that I have seen or heard of) as opposed to MA Shaw parts (on most cars and their LTW PTG adjustable wing is the main stay in most club races). I am biased as I am sponsored by them but if you were at the CFBMW and Floridagerman meet (or ask someone who was there) you would know that there was no expense spared in the building of the M. I have had the chance to compare the vorsteiner hood and mine both on and off the car and I would go with MA Shaw any day of the week for race applications. For show I would lean towards Vorsteiner (they do make some pretty stuff). What ever you do do not get a cheep hood as mentioned before it will discolor in the sun and the resin will start to pull away from the weave when exposed to heat. Also cheaper hoods are not built as well (I had my hood fly up at 80mph and all it did was bend back and split along the seam at the two corners where it bolts to the risers. If you are a member of Tek. you could always get in touch with DADO and ask him to tell you his story about his hood flying open and what happened to it. By the way he has MA Shaw stuff also) so this is a case where you get what you pay for.

Mike is a great guy. He always takes care of people and actualy will not sell you something if it doesn't fit your needs. He asks what you are going to do with the car and than will decide on weather to sell the parts to your (ie: C/F doors). He is a stand up guy and the customer support is second to none. Dave there are some NEW PARTS that he has made that are not on his site that you might be interested in so give them a call. Tell them that I sent you and he will take care of you. By the end of this summer I should be tipping the scales just under 2900lbs.

I should be tipping the scales just under 2900lbs.Nice, it's the best way to make this car faster and handle better. Good job. What did you replace in the interior? or is it even in there?

The car has benn completely gutted and most of the some body parts have been replaced with C/F ones. I I am trying to get down to 2600 - 2700lbs. I stilll have some places that I could shave off a couple of pounds and Mike is going to be fabricating some goodies for me so my goal is realistic. Remember people to BE CAREFUL when doing things like this as the car will become a different animal all together. I am about to corner balance the car for the third time and lower the car (yes each time I take out enough weight that the suspension actualy raises a little) so I will keep all of you posted.
