Hey guys few quick Q's. I came across an 86 Cabrio F/S and the garage said the lady's husband died and she was going to give it to her daughter (16) but car needs to much work, anyways that being said it doesn't appear to be a "enthusiast" ride. The asking price said 2,000 on the car but he quickly chimed in saying I bet a cash offer of 500 to 800 bucks would take her. I am trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the car if I only swipe the rims lol. These rims were on there stamped VW on the inside. I am assuming they resemble RS' and if so what years did they come stock on these cars. Can they fetch what RS' usually go for on forums? Thanx!....and P.S. for any ridiculous comment pointing out they are not my lug pattern I know that :p I would either try and shine up and resell or trade for some 5x120's :)

Make sure the barrels inside are not cracked.

Those rims are in very good condition considering they are 20+ years old, if they aren't broken they are worth about 700 bucks without tires, and if the tires have like 60%+ tread you can probably get around 900, plus you can part out the car, then sell it to one of those junk yards that'll give you like 200 bucks so figure best case scenario:
900 bucks for the wheels+ maybe 500 for all the usable parts in the car + 200 for the place takin it, and you're looking at realistically getting 1600 for an 800 dollar investment

or, buy some cheap ass steelies to put on the cabby, sell the bbs for 8-900 bucks and then sell the whole car for 800 bucks and walk away with the same money and less hassle

They look like BBS RM's. If you refinish them (polished the lips, repaint the centers, clean the bolts) they can fetch more than $1000 W/O tires. But that just depends on how much extra time you have.
