Old news but interesting.
Let's pretend for a second that its not the future SUV from MINI.
Also, pretend that the rendered photo of it splashing on the beach is real.
The idea, keep the same MINI platform and drop the highly successful Diesel on a AWD drive train. Boast about its 50 mpg fuel economy thanks to its semi-hybrid brake regeneration system. Sell them in more places then Europe. Watch as it catches like wildfire and adds to the annoying population of MINI cars on the road today. The AWD and the NM of torque combined will catch you taking turns at deadly speeds, cracking jokes at the TDI's, and make a new appreciation for the word touring.
My only question...Why haven't they done it yet?
GETRAG showed off their AWD version in 2004. BMW development heads were impressed at this idea. Yet, they went nowhere with it. Why?
