sorry for the small pic I took it on my phone because I lost my digicam who knows where the hell its at but anyways. my dad took the A4 out and told me to check the timing belt. and this is what I found with small bits of belt around and little chips. does anyone know if I should just replace the belt an call it a day? or is it something else? and if I need a special tool and anyone in the orlando area close to altamonte that have one that can meet up an help i would greatly appreciate it much ^_^

What did you find? Chips of what? You might have a big problem. The Audi guys at the shop had a car like this. The woodruff key on the cam gear went and the gear moved a little. It sent metal through out the motor and basicly the guy needed a new engine. I would not drive the car and remove the timing belt cover and check for more damage. Drop the oil from the car to and check for metal in the oil. I would not drive the car get it towed to a shop. That is the worst case. You might just need a new belt, tentioner, and new rollers. Just don't drive the car till you fix it.

Hope it is just a new belt and tentioner. Good luck with the car.

Cant really tell wtf that pic is or what you're trying to say. But if chunks of the timing belt are coming off don't even think about running the engine.

post a pic of the engine with the timing cover off can't really tell what you are holding. Did you check for metal in your oil filter or oil pan?

OMG worst luck ever. ok well I installed the new tensioner and guess what??? I was driving and as I was going up a hill my tensioner went out. good thing there was no A. traffic behind me and B. I wasn't that far up the hill. whne I looked at it the tensioner broke in half the exact same way the old one did. I installed everything correctly and double and tripple checked it. I drove fine for about 2 hours then it broke. any ideas as to why it broke could it have just been defective?

Alright, let me get this straight...
THERE ARE HILLS IN FLORIDA!?!?!?!
I would just suggest going to dealership and having them do it. If it has happened twice then let them figure it out and mess up
