Ive got a squeal/whisteling type sound coming from somewhere under the hood, not sure what its coming from. Anyone know the steps to find the source?

There is also a significant decrease in rpm's whenever i turn something on like headlights or the air blower/conditioning. not sure if its related

Prolyl a pulleys bearing going bad. If it is fix it asap, they can sieze and then melt the belts and you got bigger problems!

more than likely its your alternator going bad or your tensioner pulley

Little late on this, but anyways...

Tensioner pulleys squeek like crazy on BMW engines after very few miles. My Z3 did it at 60k, my M has started to do it at 23k.

Will not break/destroy anything as long as it's just sqeeling a little bit. If it gets super loud or anything changes, it might need a looking at, but otherwise just annoying as Hell.

it may also be something other than pulleys or belts, for instance even a small vaccuum hose that has been knocked off will whistle, and can cause all sorts of problems. Sometimes vaccuum hoses lead to electrical components for various reasons, so be sure to check them all for splits, cracks, and loose or missing ends!

Could it be the a/c compressor? I had that problem on my dad's Jag it sounded like belts but then it ended up bein the compressor bearings. $$$ but I know it's not German but a possibility? maybe
