What can I do to a 98' Sl500

My dad said instead of buying another car he will give me his Sl500. SOO I was thinking about modding, and I was wondering what can you do to the engine. Do you guys know any good company's? I am thinking about putting in a chip, and intake.....

I don't know too much about the R129 SL class, but its a nice looking car.

What color is it? Have any pictures?

You could do Chip/Intake/Exhaust for performance, thats always a good place to start.

You might want to consider some nice wheels, maybe suspension, some clear corners/side markers. Rabidfox or Kynyption might chime in if they know something about R129's.

First thing to do when modding this car is save up some money cause most anything you try to do is going to be expensive. Performance mods are rediculously expensive with little to no gains. Start by doing a lot of research on places like mbworld.org. As much as I hate that place, there is a lot of good info there.

Send it to Brabus or Renntech... they can make it a serious car.

with NA cars, and especially mercedes, things like ecu and intake rarely give much power. Brabus or Renntech could make it baller though

True.. But like LD said, a NA benz can get some bolt on's, but they will still be ridiculously expensive and have little to no gains.

However I'm pretty sure most everyone that has forked over the cash to brabus or renntech.. is rather satisfied with their decision..


I know a guy who has like an early-mid 90's SL 600.. he sent it to Renntech, they dropped some ridiculous liter v-12 in.. Does 200mph easily...
