I'm going to look at a 02 S4 today, just wondering what everyone thinks about these? To be it seems like a pretty cool car, twin turbo 6cyl. Or am I barking up the wrong tree here ;D

As long as you dont mind pulling the motor everytime you want to do something to it sure. Some are maintenance nightmares and some never have too many problems at all. I think its just luck of the draw on that. On the positive side, they can make a boat load of power!!

They are incredible cars, sure they have some issues, bi-pipe, and the occasional broken shift linkage from what I hear.. But every car has some negative aspects..

But its nothing that can't be fixed without some maintence. Turbo's are pretty old, about 5 years, might need replacing, or soon to be replaced..

It's not a cheap car to maintain.. But it certainly is a great vehicle. I still want one to this day.

And A4Ringed is right... with a few bolt on's... your in the 300's easily.

Seriously, it's a bad ass ride. If you like working on your own car then it REALLY brings down the repair costs. Replacing the turbos is the most expensive part of it all and pretty much the only reason you'd have to pull the engine. If you get one then just make sure to take your time and do all of the general maintenance stuff to it first to tighten up the known weak points. 99% of this stuff is pretty cheap and easily done yourself even if you're a novice. Plus, we're here to help if need be.

Also, like pipe said, flash the ECU and you're well over 300chp. It's like driving a completely different car. Or goes balls out and do full stage 3. Expect to pay about $10k for this job if you do it right with quality parts and all of the supporting mods that are recommended (like clutch/flywheel, exhaust, etc). That's what I paid for my stage 3 job (parts & labor), but I already had full turbo-back exhaust.

Thanks for the responses, it seems to be a big contender in my choice of cars I'm looking at.

As much as I think the S4 is cool, I think I'm going to go for/try to get a TT225 Quat, I fell in love the minute I sat in one.

I loveeee the body of the TT coupe though! I'm not looking for copious amounts of power, so I'd rather get a 225TT and get it up to the 300ish mark.

I know you know this, but I have to make sure that you really know this... The TT is SMALL, real small, like smaller than my E30 small... If it were me, I'd go with the B6 S4, I'm not sure, but I would believe that the V-8 would be a more reliable motor and they're just sick anyways.

Yeah, the small does bother me a tad. I haven't really looked into B6 S4's. How much is the avg price?

Wow, after looking at the prices, I can't afford like 20k.+
