its easy to rationalize the price of one thing, but when you add it all up, start getting buyers remorse!

wow, 15 grand.. I thought spending $2500 in a year was bad. I guess worse for me because all of it was wasted :cry::cry::cry::cry:

15 is only about 2 more than what I spent in those 3 months... But I've still got about 5 months left before my "year" is up ;)

You're reading my mind. It's a good thing I've got a bare block sitting out in my garage right now.
I should call up CP and see how much for some custom 9.0:1s... and I wonder how much Andres sells Verdi rods for...
Ahh.. questions questions.. ;) I'm a bastard.

Well you know even just low compression pistons will boost performance a ton.... You can run so much more boost off of it. I think mine were 11:1 or 10:1 and I could run up to 18 lbs of boost on the stock turbo. Aren't you running like 7 lbs or something?? lol

8.4psi at 10.5:1 comp. I could throw on a headgasket that would drop me to 9.0:1 and get close to 450whp (that's a Stage 2 kit, plus injectors and tuning).
I am not happy w/ relying on headgaskets though - That would quickly become the weakest link in the engine, and would limit one to about 14-16psi, with no hope of increasing that.
My philosophies are:
1) Do it once, do it right.
2) Go big or go home. ;)
Edit: Not to say Nick's Stg 2 is bad or anything - on the contrary, it is by far the BEST bang for the buck in any circle. I'm just a little hard to satisfy - 450whp would start to feel slow very quickly.

kk Jake when you get this done I definately get a test drive in the car at an autoX... I mean, there's no way to wreck the car at the autoX unless you go about 500 feet off the runway into a hay bale rofl

I'm scared for when my clutch burns out.... my car is some whacked out contraption, I don't even have a damn dipstick, and the car eats oil for breakfast lunch and dinner...
.8 is full, got it from service, drove one afternoon, and I'm at .6, plus the meter is never accurate to begin with so its always a gamble you are betting on
LynxZ3r0
06-21-2006, 12:57 PM
Yeah, if I owned an E60 M5, my first mod would be an oil dipstick. No joke. That scares the crap out of me.
A4ringedONE8T
06-21-2006, 09:56 PM
There seriosuly isnt an oil dipstick?
LynxZ3r0
06-22-2006, 12:01 AM
There seriously isn't. I don't think there is one on the new 3 Series, either.
Gator911
06-22-2006, 12:55 PM
There wasnt one on the benz i did the other day either...It is all electronically measured...
It sucks because on cars with top mount oil filters you can just use the vaccum pump to suck the oil out...Without a dipstick, you have to lift the car :(

yup... bmw is at it again... just like the life time gear oil, and tranny fluid.
LynxZ3r0
06-22-2006, 04:39 PM
Yeah that life time crap lasts about 10k miles before I get annoyed and swap in some REAL fluids.
Redline & Royal Purple FTW.
