whats the best method of cleaning the engine bay, i have to do this....

Spray a can of engine degreaser everywhere, scrub the really nasty tough spots, close the hood and let it sit for atleast a hour. Come back and hose it off.

Don't do this on a nice driveway as it'll leave nasty oil stains everywhere.

Is it safe the hose everything except the electrical box?

you can hose anything down just light mist the engine bay is pretty well sealed off, just scrub and use a lil armor all on plastic that isnt close to the motor cause i heard bad things when that stuff gets to hot it spots and looks like ish.

Yes it is safe to hose the engine bay off, all of the connectors are weather-proofed. I've done it too many times to count and never once encountered a problem.

Also do not do it if the engine is hot. When water hits the headers or other hot metallic parts they can crack/warp!

We hosed mine down and didn't have any problems. Just try to stay away from directly spraying the fusebox and other electrical things like that...

Use a water soluble and citrus based engine degreaser. Spray it on your cold enigne all over the place. Let it sit for 20 minutes or so, then lightly mist the entire engine bay from as close to vertical to the floor as possible. Use your choice of a water soluble dressing and spray the entire engine bay at will. Close the hood and start the engine. Let it idle and wash the car as you would normally so you don't get it stained from any product.
