I've seen them get really bad...hazy and discolored...I can't help but think that doing this to the whole car would make it look REALLY bad over time, right?

Let me know if I'm wrong in my thinking...

Hey man, where have you been hiding?

I will probably need a kit for my car soon. I am getting the front end resprayed soon. How long would you wait after paint to put on the clear bra.

Do you like this new product more than the 3M?

I'm definitely getting a clear bra on the front bumper and edge of the hood on my next car. I'll keep you in mind.

David.
I'm 95% sure that you have seen other films turn cloudy and dull looking, these film tend to be the Non-top coat film which is Venture, llumar and Avery. I know one of my competitors in Tampa use a Non Top Coat Avery which looks horrible in 6 months. Love bugs eat through the film and scratches easy as well.

I stay with the Clear Coat films such as Clearshield and 3M. These films have 2 mil of clear coat which protects it from scratching, discoloration etc. They also come with a better warranty which pays me labor and material if the film ever goes bad. The other films with lifetime warranty do not pay labor.

A lot of people think the 3M turns yellow, well it did, which was the first generation film made 9 years ago. The 2nd generation film and 3rd generation film has been great.

Another reason why some of the films go bad is due to neglect. If the film isn't washed once every 2 weeks and put a nice coat of Plexus on the film then the film is going to age quicker.

Hope that helps..

RPM - What's up? How are you? I would wait 30 days before applying the film to your car. I'm still using 3M or Clearshield. 3M has less orange peel with more stretch marks during the install. Clearshield has more orange peel with 100% perfection installation. I also stock Top Coat Avery, and Venture, but do not give warranties on these films. :D I know they will go bad. Well, avery Top Coat is pretty darn good so far.

See ya...
