i think you have retarted narrow tires on your wheels... if you get enough understeer, it looks like you could definately fck up your rim

no, low profile looks fine... the width of the tires though... if you have an 8.5" rim it looks like youre running 205s or something on there
944attack
04-08-2007, 10:04 PM
ohh ok. :banghead:
which picture shows any tire width though??
LDadrenaline
04-08-2007, 10:20 PM
i was making up a tire width... but look how pulled away the tire is, the sidewall should be close to even with the rim
rafiki
04-08-2007, 10:50 PM
actually he is running a 215 on a 10
and a 205 on a 9
the car isnt a race car, obviously.. look at it.. we dont all have awd turbo cars and want to go really fast
there are different types/ideas to modding cars
rafiki
04-08-2007, 10:51 PM
oh and yeah its a staggered set up on a fwd car! OH NO! the 4 door under powered, fwd, family sedan isnt going to handle as well anymore! SHIT!
and none of those are my cars
but yes i also run small tires on my wheels

um....i thought you had the white mk5 there? and its definately in the pics?
i love the white a3 but the roof rack has got to go.

LD, it's called stretching tires. A popular thing to do in the euro scene, it's for looks, not handling. I'm not a fan of it either, but you should know what you're talking about before you start criticizing others.
That yellow GTi with Oettingers (i believe there oettingers) is stunning.
The red Jetta, I love that style, but it doesn't work well with GLi's or new school in my opinion. But like you said rafiki, different ideas and styles for modding.
But on older v-dubs, mk2's etc, those wheels and a slammed look. wow.

Sweet pics!
The A3 looks sweet... minus the roof rack. I dunno, it's cool in a way, but I think it would look a lot better without :dunno:.
I agree with Roy about the stretched tires. It can look cool (especially with the classic weave-style rims) on older VW's, but I'm not a huge fan of it on modern cars.
I didn't even know you could fit a 215 on a 10...

First of all, the stretched tires on Jetta look SICK in person, especially with those wheels :D. Second of all, the roof racks on the A3 are essential to it's hatchback/wagoness. I mean if you're baller enough to carry that much shit and still go fast, that's just the way to be. Also, Jeff's yellow 20th is one of the nicest GTIs I've seen, I love that color, and the wheels finish if off very nicely. But it's way better when it's running on all four cylinders ;)

yeah sorry. i didnt even know my car was in any of those pics!
im a fan of the roof racks. and its not like its a huge deal. you can take it off in 5 min. its unique and i like it. and so does the owner.
the yellow gti will have a different set of wheels next weekend... and the rs's on the jetta looks awesome to me. its all opinion/ taste. hah and yes you can put a 215 on a 10!
thanks for all the comments

Man, if thw a3 was offered in "quattro" (which, really it would be vw's four motion, but they call it quattro because its on an audi?.... IDK really. thats another tangent.) and 2.0T I would trade my car in for one in a heartbeat. Those cars are sooooo sick. cool pictures too. I'm down for the stretched tire deal, more on older cars (e30 bmws and mkIIs). I personally couldn't do it, though, because I have a tendancy to attempt corners at triple digits..... kelso you know all about it :D

quattro and vw's 4 motion is totally different

I didn't even know you could fit a 215 on a 10...
thats what im saying! its not about performance or anything like that, it seems stretched to the point where it almost doesnt fit on the rim anymore, its a safety thing
and if its a style thats cool then, i was just giving my input
edit: btw i came pretty close in the wheel vs tire size estimation :D

quattro and vw's 4 motion is totally different
yes yes exactly. all quattros use a longitude-mounted eng and trans, and 4 motion is the transverse mounted..... but the a3 uses the transverse a5 platform.... but like I stated I don't know whether or not that is the actual way they classify the systems  anyone know? I don't mean to high jack the thread......

The 225TT is Haldex but sports the "Quattro" badge. Just a way of labeling it and keeping some standard. Volvo also uses Haldex AWD just to add

Brett's wheels are growing on me...
I need to get Micheala to buy the Oettingers... but I don't think she wants to right now... they'd be killer on her GTI...

Hey I like the racks... it's one of those things you "Volkswagen/Audi People" like to do to your European Hotrods that not many other people do... I'm down with that.
