im looking to get a turbo back exhaust for my 07 GTI, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a site that would give me a good product. the two ive been looking at the most is the APR and Milltek turboback exhausts. and would carbonio be a good brand for an intake? thanx

its a catless free-flowing downpipe all the time, and a free flow exhaust when you want

lol you can buy a downpipe and have it welded in for $150.... or its like buying a complete turboback
and for the gti, you can just buy the cutout for $250 or whatever and a nice downpipe. then just have it welded in

i looked at APR's turbo back which thier sellin 4 $1299. thats a hella lot of money. but its the nicest one ive found. not worried too much about price, more worried about the quality of the product im gettin.

awe makes a good exhaust system for our cars.
Milteks is quiet. which i like.
apr is made by billyboat. which is a good company. so you really cant go wrong
are you chipped yet? if you are lookign for power gains there is no reason not to get chipped wasy before you do anything
second. most of the chip tuning companies have the tune set to a 2.5" exhaust
not all of the exahaust stated above are 2.5"
yes the statement holds true that. the best back pressure is no back pressure for a turboed car.
but it also holds true that the larger/more wide open you go. the more power you are going to lose down low. for a daily driven car. i see no point in putting a 3" exhaust on a car with a turbo the size of the bottom of a small cup
there are a few things you have to look into before you decide. if you are willing to loose the power down low for the slight gains at 5000+ rpms. then more power to ya. 3" exhaust is good for ya.
and i also thought about the QTP down pipe. but im not a fan of chopped and cut exhaust systems. especially on a car that just walked off the show room!
i will most likley go with this turbo back when the time comes

oh and speaking of exhaust being 1200+ dollars.
you gotta pay to play.
purchasing a quailty product will do you good down the road. you wont find a decent exhaust for less than $1000 (new)
if you want a qtp cut out. i have one sitting in my closet.
its only the cutout. (the y pipe part)
and the motor doesnt work
the motor cost $30 from qtp. and you will obviously need to weld it. i will let it go for $30

good choice. you will more than likely loose power if you decide to do an exhaust system (especially a 3") on a stock tuned 2.0...
APR is a good company. i have yet to hear many responses about it. and havnt heard it in person. apr is usually fairly quiet until you get on it.. we'll see if that holds true on the mk5's

let me know! its not in the greatest shape! not dinged or anything, but just all chared up from the exhaust....but its $30! :D
let me know. i could have it next week! becuase i would have to get it from my parents house in sarasota.. but you are in tampa! so it will be easy!

APR grumbles and gurgles like a troll that just drank a case of natty light... there was a car with it at the last Dyno day I went to... its a full 3" diameter.
Milltek is hot... its not loud at idle, and when you get on it the sounds is like a tiger purring... 2.75" dia all the way back.
GHL is all around loud. and raspier than the APR... I've also heard this in person.
AWE is the best choice for Loud and decent tone... also seems to get better power.
There is no Q-tec downpipe yet for the mkV, just the cutout... Rafi, how many locals have had em and then broke em? I can name at least 3 off the top of my head...
I used to have the Carbonio intake, I don't recommend it... the Evolution system is noticeably better, way higher flow... and you can hear the diverter... which I like...
Get chipped first though, it's way more bang for your buck!

i agree. but iv said it before. you are putting an exhaust on a turbo'd car. you HAVE to expect "gurgles" and "grumbles"
unless its restricted somewhat.. there is NO way around it.

just to throw this out there... most people mount them incorrectly. theres a certain position you have to put it in so the motor is aimed upwards instead of to the side or to the ground. ive had no problems with mine, as long as you dont bottom out your car you should be hitting the exhaust either
