How does it feel compared to OE?

Is it robust enough for track use?

Well, I've never driven a normal 3 Series.. but I'll give you my thoughts.. It is FAIRLY responsive... Nowhere near what some cars like the Miata, S2000, or the ultimate, Porsche 944 achieve, but pretty good. It feels very heavy, but not stiff or unresponsive by any means.

I don't know how hard it is for you guys to swap them in, but I'd say go for it. Everything I hear from M3 guys is how much they HATE their steering, and I can't say I hate mine.. I wish it were a little better, but it certainly is FAR from being bad.

Definently robust enough for tracking. All Z3s (including M models) run the same rack, and I've never heard of one failing under any circumstance other than old age.

I like the E46 M3 steering. E46 non-m and all E36s have a little too much play. I do miss my S2000 though. If they do a major body engine change I will look into them again.

well the stock rack Club sport is responsive and light on it's wheels. More than a standard e36 IMO.

The Z3 is 5$ more than the 95 M...so I mean it's a tosser.
The 96+ rack which covers all e36s Non M and M are 195$ which is what I have now.

Go for the Z3 rack for sure, non-progressive rate is better for performance oriented driving.

I was reading an article awhile back, seems the owner of KO Performance has this mod done to his car. He's on BF.C and is an easy guy to talk to, see what he has to say.

rather stay away from KO. Seen too much bullsheit from the company over at 318ti.org...bad customer service, horrible products.

just rather not deal with KO in any way

So are you doing Z3 rack? Where are you getting it from?

Do what ya like, just trying to get you in contact with an enthusiast who's done the mod and tracks his car.

Sent Zionville an email on theirs for 349, if it's sold, I'll ask around BF.c for one, if that doesn't work, Pelican has RMFD one for 5XX$..

I read on BF that the steering rack on a z3 compared to 95 M3 is like 3/10 of a turn less or something and unless your doin some serious tracking u wont see it, but thats what i read dont hold me to it

Z3 is cheaper than the 95 M3 on average.
