something tells me that my auto tranny granny car wont be welcome, lol.

Not 18 either, lol.

Not 18? As long as you are 16 and have a valid driver's license, all you need is a parent/legal guardian to sign the waiver with you and you are good to go!

Auto tranny - shoot, leave it in L or 1 or D1 or whatever and go for it! Still plenty of fun to be had, and without having to worry about shifting means you can pay attention to the rest of your driving!

Hmmm, very tempting. I never thought of just putting it in 1. I just don't wanna put too much stress on the engine, its still my DD.

Would this be bad for the engine?

As long as it lasts I would not worry.

Ugh, this is really tempting, but helmets are expensive...

Cobb_Web
03-21-2007, 06:59 PM
yea realy . . .

how much is a helmet that is up to snuff for one of these things?
If i come im already payin 30 bucks to make a fool out of myself, lol, i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for a helmet im hardly gonna use, lol.

Helmets are typically around $100, last I checked.

The only ones I found were like 249+ on the internet.

And can I use motorcycle helmets? Im finding some for like 70 on some website. I figure i dont need some super safe helmet, just to keep me from getting banged up in the turns, but idont wanna get the wrong thing.

Native

We have loaner helmets. No need to buy your own, unless you're squeemish about sharing...

a motorcycle helmet is fine. Our club requires only that the helmet be DOT approved. A Snell rating is recommended, but not necessary.

As for wringing out first gear, as long as you've got fresh oil, good brakes, tread on the tires, and nothing loose in the trunk, under hood, or inside, you won't hurt you or your car - a run is all of about 40 seconds at SPC.

We do take safety and liability seriously, though, so make sure if you come out that a REAL parent/legal guardian comes with. Thank you for your support. More info about autocross and the rules is available on our website and forum, as linked in the first post.

idk about FAST, but PCA you just go... if they ask if you are 18 you say yes... done... lol

ive been to around 30 autoXs and never had a parent sign a waiver because they either dont ask me or i lie. this sunday will be the first one i am actually legally participating in! yay!

Can i get a parent to sign a release form and then bring that with me? If so, where can I find this form?

OMG an Auto-X That's less than Two hours from my house!!!! like twenty minutes for that matter!!! DAMN I'll be there for SURE!

WOW I just went to register and started freaking out.... Idk what the hell I'm doing HAHAHA w/e I'll just do it anyways!

Native

Can't speak for PCA, but our insurance provider sets the rules regarding minors. The forms are not available online, just register, come to the event with mom/dad/legal guardian and have them sign you up.

Idk what the hell I'm doing HAHAHA w/e I'll just do it anyways! What you'll find is that there are plenty of folks available to offer tips, hints and guidance. Just identify yourself when asked at the driver's meeting if you want some coaching, and we'll be more than happy to hook you up!

Once they come and sign me up once, can I come every time after that and be fine?

LDadrenaline
03-22-2007, 10:51 PM
no you have to sign up every time. if you get the form and copy it, you may be able to have them sign a few of them that you can bring each time... not sure though

Native

Once they come and sign me up once, can I come every time after that and be fine?Bring them with you the first time. Once we have a chance to talk to them and make sure it's actually your folks, we'd be willing to give you a waiver form or two, so that if you want to come to an event but the folks don't want to get up that early, ya'll can sign the form at home and you can bring it with you. The signatures would need to be originals - no photocopies. The waivers are per event, so each time we'd need a new, orignial form.

Just so's ya'll know, registration has hit its limit at 70. At SPC we can take last minute on-site entries (unlike Brooksville). Since we will undoubtedly have some no-shows, there will in all likelihood be some spots available that morning. We'll be giving pre-reg'd folks until 9, and at that point will begin taking on-site entries on a first-come basis up to the 70 entry limit.

SO, if you missed pre-reg and feel like taking your chance on getting a last minute spot, show up as early as you can...<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message -->

Yep, 7!

There were several folks out with cameras, both still and video, but no one has posted anything yet. Keep an eye on our forum: www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb (http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb) and the autocross section of tamparacing.com

FWIW, if you've ever been to an autocross event before, it looked like that, only everyone was having more fun ;)
