I am due for my 60k service and was curious if anyone has had any good or bad dealings with Classic Audi here in Altamonte. They are like 2 minutes from my house, so I plan to take my car to them.

Usually I do these sorts of things myself, but I've only had my A4 for a little over 2 months and dont really feel completely comfortable trying to diagnose potential problems with it yet. Anyone know about what the 60k service costs as well?

Thanks for the input :)

@ 60K service, you should highly consider changing the timing belt, which is expensive! Check ECS Tuning's website for their replacement kit!

Classic's pretty good. Any dealership is going to be expensive obviously, Ive known a few people that have gotten things done through Classis as well as some aftermarket stuff and never heard any complaints!

Good Luck!

According to the maintenance schedule from Audi, it says that the timing belt replacement doesnt come until 100k. Is that not a good thing to follow?

Timing belt is recommended at 60k, especially if your modded or plan to mod the car

Im not really worried about the cost, I just dont want to be dicked around. I've heard far too many stories in my time of people going in for an oil change and coming out with a lot more. Not saying I am naive, but you know what I mean. I just want to be sure Classic isnt "one of those places".

Is it common for the timing belt to break?

Can yes, I know someone that just busted a timing belt on a 1.8T VW at 57k miles, gotta rebuild the head now from the pistons kissing the valves!

Mmmm...gotta love interference engines...lol.

I called Classic and tey said the 60k service is ~$500. That doesnt include the timing belt, however. If I want that it's an extra $1500. Yikes.

But, I suppose what's gotta be done has gotta be done.

dude, that sounds like a big do it yourself project, screw stealerships!

anyways my friend used to work there as a tech and from what i heard it seems like a nice place but the salesmen would rip off their own mothers

Yeah I'm definitely not going to pay fo the 60k service. All that stuff I can do on my own with ease. The timing belt task is a bit daunting though.

nah man, 1.8T's are very popular so i bet there are DIY write ups online like on vortex, and you could probably do it provided you have the tools and general engine knowledge... although that is something you dont want to fuck up...

i did not read through any of the posts so i dont know if this was already mentioned or not but...

do you know you can get the same service done at a shop that is certified by Audi to do those types of services?

I used to work at a shop called Stashu's in Longwood right on SR-434 which did those types of services quite often. I dont work there anymore but I'll give you the number or adress if you are interested in checking their prices...

Elliot, could Stashu's check my electrical systems once I get the damn thing running again? I need a good place somewhere around here that I can take it to, to get whatever problem it has fixed so I can ditch it.

Oh, and by the way, of course it's the battery that's dead again  so there's clearly SOMETHING that's shorted that just keeps draining the power. I'm gonna have to take the battery to get recharged at Advance Autoparts or whatever AGAIN, and then quickly drive it to wherever can find and repair that problem so it can be diagnosed. I'm not doing this myself.

Stashu's
800 W SR-434
(407)-331-0930

Hope it works out for you Rulez!

and Azzman, I can help you with the battery problem personally if you'd like, just let me know if you want me to swing by sometime and I'll see what I can do to help. If not, then yes Stashu's is capable of fixing nearly anything when it comes to German cars.

Stashu's is awesome Stan is a great guy to work with, I got my car lowered there and they did a great job! :thumbu:

Yeah, I'll just have to give Stashu's a ring for sure, would be sooooo much easier on me.

That is of course once my father realizes that my car is not HIS and he has no say in whether or not I fix it myself, keep it or whatever.

try www.audiforums.com (http://www.audiforums.com) they might have a timing belt DIY. if not, become a member and ask around.

i don't know much about Classic, except i tried to get a job there once as a salesman. the manager was a jerk and denied me. didnt help that i had no experience tho lol

elliot, i have a question. i got a letter about a recal for the ignition switch on my 97 a4. they told me to go get it done at a local dealership. could stashu's do this by chance? if not, guess i'll be goin to classic.

Well what exactly needs to be done, does the ignition switch needs to be replaced or just serviced? Stashu's is capable of nearly anything unless it's a dealer specific job, in which case the manufacture will not release any information or details on how to perform the work that needs to be done, and only allows these services to be done at the dealer.

Chances are they are able to do it, but to be sure just give them a call and ask, and you can compare their prices with the dealers.

Hope it works out!

i get my 04 1.8Q serviced there. going in thurs for the last one, 45K. i've never had any problems taking it there, but i have only been in for warranty work. they really do have some good techs, a few master techs, and work well with modded cars. this is my 1st post, so i'm not sure on rules for posting other forums, but most of the their techs surf another audi forum i could send you a link in pm. i'll put it here if it's ok.

some of the techs do work out of their homes, and i know that they've done TB's from home, not sure how much though. pm me if you need info. and no i don't work there or for audi, lol. just surf the audi forums alot.

I ended up going to Stashu's. They finished the work in one day and were a whole lot cheaper that the dealer. They were very friendly and seemed to truly appreciate my business.

I would definitely go to them again in the future.
