i took some pictures of my buddy yesterday on his 2003 Suzuki GSX-R600 doing some wheelies and a maneuver called "The Christ" he did it at about 35mph going through his neighborhood...

sorry about the poor quality, i didnt have my other camera so we just used his, but they came out pretty good i think after i messed with them a little bit...

his gf of 2 years just broke up with him for no reason what so ever and is now dating a drug addict, he is in a similar situation to me in terms of the relationship except his gf never cheated on him and he really loves her... he sold his old Honda CBR600 F4i bc she was afraid of him killing himself so when she left him he went and bought this one to replace her and the old Honda...

he really is fearless. he isnt stupid but he just isnt afriad of things...

when you aren't afraid of things...thats when you become stupid and do stupid shit...IMO

same with driving...the second you become so sure of yourself and fearless of driving a car...your screwed...you do stupid shit

I'm scared shitless when I drive honestly...I'm not confident at all

you always have to realize that there are so many idiots driving out there...it doesn't have to be your fault, it can be them t-boning you, or rear-ending you and you didn't even see it coming.

its deffinately a trade off...you do stuff like that because u enjoy the thrill and accomplishment. plus its not like he started yesterday, im sure hes more skilled at it just from experience

just as u can get hurt because of what said above...you can get just as hurt if ur not a confidnet rider. the second u start second guessing yourself is when u need to stop.

for anything 'extreme' really...

there is a very, VERY fine line between being confident and being fear-less or no afraid...

You can be confident and scared shitless of what your doing...but confident in that you are sure you know what you are doing...

he is fearless confident. he used to be an amateur dirt bike racer when he lived in Erie, PA but he moved down here his Junior year in h.s. and isnt able to ride as much, otherwise he would have gone pro just like his buddy is doing... hes been racing dirt bikes since he was about 8 and has riden motorcycles since he was like 16 or 17 or something like that...

he knows what he is doing and he isnt reckless on the road, he knows that he doesnt want to die but he also is confident and fearless in what he does...

the only tricks that he does it when he is in his neighborhood and no one is driving through which is about mid day and thats why we did the photoshoot bc it was clear and a nice day...

next he wants to start working on the gas tank hand stand

we had talked about doing the double Christ together but he is afraid of me getting hurt so he wont let me do it with him...

its not that im not afraid, i would be pretty afraid but i have confidence in him, so i need to practice some of the like jumping frome a prone style to full upright position before i can just do it...

i have never tried stunts like that before on a bike and thats why hes like i dont want you to get hurt...

kinda funny how half the people in here are talking about how stupid and fearless that guy is for doing wheelies and amateur acrobatics stunts on his motorcycle, yet I'd bet money they have all driven 130+mph before, which is WAY riskier than motorcycle stunts.

I'm not saying not to do it

I'm just saying don't get hot headed and think that nothing can happen to you when you do it.

I've 'possibly' seen 130+ many times

but i can guarantee you I was scared SHITLESS when I did it

how is 130 more dangerous than jumping up onto a gas tank of a moving motorcycle?

DeadSailor
12-08-2006, 06:19 PM
alot of valid points are being made but i think when u judge stuff like this u have too keep in mind that sports like these are ALL about progression and pushing your limits...stuff like that. and those leveles rise with the more time and effor you put into it.

its like calling a lion tamer stupid for putting himself in that danger...you dont just wake up one day and decide to shake a stick at a lion. but then again this is what these people love to do ...so stupid is as stupid does i guess

i have alot of respect for ppl that do this and other stuff like this, its not like you wake up one day and decide to start doing 90 mph can can wheelies. it not something u can just do because u have 'balls'. it takes more time and patience than normal people have to develop those skills

because if you're going 35mph, and have all the safety equipment(like in the pictures, jacket/helmet/ect), then if you fall, the biggest injury you will incur will be that of your ego...and also your bike.

if something goes wrong at 130+mph, i dont care if you have a helmet on or not, I highly doubt you'll walk away.

im not trying to be an ass so dont take it that way but that is much more dangerous and reckless in my opinion. ive been around bikes my whole life and even with gear, your gonna get hurt... you could EASILY break some bones if you fall. and its much easier to fuck that up than just going 130 because your jumping which shifts the weight rapidly and if you land wrong, your down. if you land right and the wheel decides to turn your down. if you hit a rock or branch or something, down you go. now driving at high speed, you have the element of a tire blowing out i guess... but you also have a seatbelt, airbags.... dont get me wrong im not saying thta driving at high speeds is safe, a lot of it depends on the driver and the car itself, as it does with the bike thing, but i think there is a lot more opportunity for danger with the trick

I'm sorry, I totally agree with your original statement on how most people here are talking about this and that regarding the safety of motorcycles.. But if you fall, even at 35 miles an hour, even with all the proper equipment, you can still end up dead. You do realize if you fall, and your body begins to roll, and let's say your helmet slows and/or speeds up, it will break your neck.

Another thing to consider, is the vehicles behind you.

I love every kind of bike out there and respect them. But honestly, if you fall, at most any speed, on a bike, it's gonna hurt one way or another.
Then again, some people have been into accidents on bikes and there body is just thrown from the wreckage and they escape with minor injuries and are considered "lucky." Yet people in minor car accidents die..
I think we all can agree that both ways of transportation have their negative and positive points.

Only problem with that is stunters have and will do wheelies at 130+ now who is being dangerous. I have done 155+ many times but only in cars that have been tuned and tested at these speeds and higher on on similar speed rated tires.

Falling off a bike at 100+ or wrecking in a BMW at 130+

here's the most simple answer

in florida

motorcycle=death

we have the worst drivers ever down here, buying a cycle is like asking to die.

kelso

i agree to a certain extent. we also have a lot of really stupid riders. most of the ones who die, dont wear the proper gear. that would be like driving around in a ford pinto with no seatbelts, headrests, or airbags. its just retarded. some who where helmets die, but usually a motorcycle rider will live when wearing the proper gear. ive never been on a bike without a helmet, and i never will be.

ive seen two or three bike accidents with the bike trashed, but the helmet hanging on the side... of course the rider is dead.... i mean, you have a helmet, why not use it
