Does anyone have a GLS 2.0 8V that they have done mods on? Is it worth it?

my cousin just got the same exact car except its a 1999. Once I find out anything I'll let you know. For now you could try looking up intakes, exhaust, performance chips, and things of this nature.

i suppose it would depend on what you're looking for when modding a car..

if you're not too much into modding for power than there's no difference b/t the 8v and any other car. everything that's available for the VR6 version as far as styling, etc. is available for the 8v also.

things you may want to keep in mind...there seems to be more wheels available in 5 x 100 than 4 x 100, some mods may actually be cheaper for the 8v than for a VR6 or 1.8T such as aftermarket brake pads and rotors and suspensions.

some people like the neuspeed supercharger for the 2.0 8v...although personally I think the 2.0 8v turbos that I have seen are much more exciting and obviously offer more potential for power. It's a pretty strong motor from what I understand, but watch out, they burn oil like a whore burns crack.

well, it is called the 2-point-slow for a reason. if your looking for power, id say look around for something else to trade for

There are many of things you can do to this motor.....Head work for a start. Port n polish. Autotech, or TT cams are the way to go on this head for N/A. Autotech and TTtunning also make good chips for your ECU (stay away from neuspeed chips). Go with a Autotech, or TTtunning exhaust system. Also these companies make good headers. Run a K&N panel filter, or cone intake your choice.
Super charger kits are bogus for $2200...and your only likely to make 150 to180hp to the wheels. For $2200 you can do a VR6 swap with a couple of extras. (thats if you can do the install yourself)
Turbo's on 2.0 are the way to go, a kit is going to run you about the same price as a super charger, but you can make a lot more power with it if you know how to tune it.

lol...well, i know SOME of the 8v in the Mk4 had some serious oil consumption problems, i guess i worded my cautionary warning improperly ;)

and about the wheels...yeah, I dunno what I was thinkin. i'm too used to BMWs. 5 x 120 ftw

justin pretty much explained it all . if you are gonna do a vr6 swap you might as well sell it and buy a vr6 car for the money . unless you got it uber cheap .

if you decide to go the chip/intake/exhaust route you will be out about a grand and left with a 110whp monster .

110whp, finally a match for my incredible prowess! Finally someone who might be able to run 10s with me!

on the other hand drop 3 grand into it and 300whp on stock internals isnt too hard to accomplish ... and its lighter than a vr6
