Actually I believe the V8 is something liek 20 lbs lighter than the i6 IRON block. The V8 is aluminum...
And to the person who said why? ha!

I think wiring and engine management was where he was getting stuck, i know he had to make a special oil pan, special this that and the other thing basically he ran into alot of fabricating and he had to cut out the transmission tunnel i believe to use the tranny he wanted.....blah blah blah . Its in the guys main post.

oh yea i read those parts but it wasnt really a problem just special fabrication thats all but i dont recall anything about the tunnel tho but either way you gotta expect that in a project like this

Me: :owned:
All I remember hearing is that the Hartage V8 3er was a little off balance because of the V8 in it, but then again it was the E39 M5 V8.

S62 or something, right? How would one of those transfer into an E30? :shhh:

i remember seeing a black e36 on the cover of a magazine with a 540i v-8 in it built by a bmw aftermarket co. back in the late 90s yea it was way back but i know it has been done before, and currently there is a company that puts ls1 v-8 in e36's so its definately not an undoable project

dumb the number it will put down wont be impressive for as much as it costs to do, only positive you get is saying you have a v-8 e36 and thats been done a few times before, in fact a dude in norway I believe has the 850 v12 in an e30 and even its numbers arent impressive
silver-e34
10-24-2006, 06:08 PM
stock no but the potential a v-8 has to make hp is pretty impressive, add a stage I supercharger alone and you are up to 450hp no to mention all the na options you can do, as far as im concerned there is no replacement for displacement in the high performance world

the bmw v8 is a killer engine! His major issues are gonna be wiring that sucker in, and having to replace his rear tires every week or so!!!

also so much hp that they basically rebuild the engine after every run lolnot necessarily i seen plenty of those engines on test runs run a full day at the track they only switch engines to avoid loosing a race cause of technical problems, and again there is no replacement for displacement :thanks:
