Post your input here!

Orlando seems like a good spot. Cant beat central fl.

I'm gonna have to say that I'm sure most on here, at the moment, would like to have it in Tampa. But we'd get much better results if its in Orlando. The scene it's self is larger, and more people would be willing to go to Orlando than Tampa I think..

Orlando has been pretty sweet...

Keep in mind that the South Fl crew is a big part of the meet. Norht florida(beyond Orlando) isnt that much of a contribution YET...

I eventually want to include the Southeast US but I'm not ready for that. I have always wanted these events to stay free and i lose enough money in them as it is...

As of now it will still be Orlando but I dont think Tampa would be a drawback...

Hey it's your money, and your time, so your choice mostly. I'd love to be able to contribute, but I wouldn't be able to.. And I think that most from the southeast, Boca/Lauderdale/MIA would rather go to Orlando than tampa. It's a longer trip to Tampa, and most people seem to enjoy Orlando more than Tampa due to its choices of activities there.. I dunno, I'm just throwing that out there. I could be speaking out of my butt, it's finals week so I'm alone in the trenches taking grenades here..

If I had a freaking job, I'd be happy to contribute to your fund. But yeah, I can't find one; have to be 18 or older everywhere I look... blargh. That being said, I'd be fine with either Tampa or Orlando. Cruising out to Orlando does sound like fun, though...

Yea the drive to Orlando is always one of the highlights when going to a meet in orlando, esp summer/winterblaze.

Nothing like "caravaning" to Orlando with a bunch of modded bimmers on the highway ;)

So is this show/meet thing just for Bimmers? If not, id like some more info on it, sounds like it would be cool.

In any case, a bunch of people repping Florida German hats, stickers, shirts and what not would be awesome.

But are other cars (mercs) included in this thing?

Orlando or Tampa would be fine. It would be harder for me to get to Orlando, cus my mom (yes i still live at home, im 16) would get all like "i dono if i want you goin to some big car show." But if it was in Tampa, might be a different story. But either way, Orlando would be tight, Tampa would be convenient. Ups and downs for both.

I thought I did good. I didn't use the word "rally" or "race" at all! I was like, "there's a big car show in Miami and the Bimmer guys and I are all gunna ride down there together."

Parents: "Ooo...that's a far drive, and Miami is dangerous." (:jerkit: ) I kept telling them I was going to be with at least 15 other people at all times.

It wouldn't have worked out anyway, with the new car and everything. NEXT YEAR FTW!

Keith, I think Orlando is better than Tampa but I would love to see it moved to SoFLA for a change.

Gator911
05-24-2006, 02:44 PM
The proposed date is Sat. August 5th...

Last location was good, but since the "mall" wasn't very good, it got boring for some people i think...

I am goign to look around, and my goal right now is to keep it in Orlando, at a place with 250car capacity minimum...

Last year we has 140ish BMWs alone, not counting Mini's and others, and well over 200 people...

We had 4 vendors there as well...

I would like to keep this event FREE, as it has been every year, but last year, i spent a lot of my own money...I don't have that luxury with the rate at which this event is growing...

What do you guys think about a $4 "donation" to go to the event...

I mean i always get tons of sponsors to donate, so the donation can be for parking and raffle tickets....People have a decent shot at winning very nice items...

Anyways, i will set up at team here in the future incharge of doing different things, such as raffle tickets, trophies, giveaways, sponsorships, banners, and flyers...

If anyone has any hookups for any of these, or wants to help out with a particular field, please PM me!

-Keith

PS TJ, good to see you here! Do you have a scanned copy of the PBMW article?

M52 POWER!

I to am more than willing to help out, I guess I could start by doing banners/flyers etc? Is this just going to be called SummerBlaze 06?

Also I think the $4 donation idea is great, the hard part will be getting the information out. Where should we host the page for this event, on floridagerman? Throw a big summerblaze graphic on the main page as one of the events and from there a link where people can donate?

What do you guys think?

TheDarkSide
05-24-2006, 03:15 PM
I don't mind using the homepage to host the event. If we can design the flyers I can get awesome prices on 2 sided uv coated full color prints. I will look into some of the other things as well.

2 sided coated cards are a must!

Get buisness card size ones that we can print and distribute so people can leave them on appropriate cars and give to friends...

We also need a poster size (8.5x11) 1 sided print to distribute to dealerships as well as performance/automotive shops...They can post them on their doors and it gets A LOT of views...

I would like the website to host the event if possible...2006 Summerblaze brought to you by FloridaGerman.com and our sponsors...

I dont mean to be a dick either, but I NEED to approve everything before it goes public...I got into trouble with vendors last year because people were giving out free promotions when others donated to be plugged, etc...

Please contact me on individual details and if you come up with an artwork or something like that, don't just bring it to the forum and say what do you guys think?

The best thing would be to all meet up one weekend and talk about it!

I can hook you up with your own Domain name if you want.

SummerBlaze.net/org

Lets get a few of us together and meet and exchange idea. If you have any pictures that will be best to use on the flyer's. I think dual sided UV coated 1/4 page flyer's are better and more eye catching than "xerox" flyer's. I like the idea of using the homepage as the main domain for the meet. Really it can be something that keeps the theme year round and just gets updated. "Home of Summerblaze"

Hey Keith.... Let me start by thanking you for putting together last year's Summerblaze. My wife & I were there representing SoFla, but the extreme sun/ heat and (like you mentioned) boring mall cut our stay short... too much to do in Orlando to be standing in hot a$$ Sun.

Anyway, 6speedonline.com or Rennlist http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/index.php? (http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/index.php?)
are a couple of good places to post this event for the P-car crowd.

Also, I'm sure that a donation or a $5 parking fee would be fine with pretty much everyone since you're always paying for parking somewhere, why not at an awesome gathering of sweet German rides.

Thanks again!

I am working on locations now...

Guys, whatever you do, PLEASE do NOT post about summerblaze on other sites yet...

I dont care if you guys go to other forums and plug FG and they find out about it here, but i dont want anythign released untill it is final...

Too much confusion starts that way, and i get SLAMMED with questions and such...How about the weekend after this we meet up somewhere and talk about some ideas...

I am going to be doing the event in Orlando. There will be a $5 "suggested donation" that lets you park in the roped off area and get you a raffle ticket, and into the car show...If you want additional raffle tickets, they will be $1...

If you dont want to pay the $5, you can still come to the event, you just won't be in our "section."

Last year i tried having the event at CityWalk and Downtown Disney, however, it was too short of notice. If you guys remember it was going to be at Race Rock last year untill they told me every car over 100 would be towed...At the last minute we relocated. Anyways, I am hoping for CityWalk or Downtown Disney again...

I will keep you up to date...What would be a good meeting location? Is there any car hangouts on a Saturday or Sunday in the Bay Area?

You can also try Waterford Lakes, it's a big shopping center in east Orlando. They hold car shows there all the time, and even let the CRX meet hold an auto-x in the back parking lot.
"Waterford Lakes Town Center makes your life easier by offering easy access to popular retailers, including Super Target, Best Buy and T.J. Maxx. Waterford Lakes is also home to more than 100 specialty shops, a variety of restaurants, and ongoing entertainment in a park-like, open-air environment. You'll find more than 5 acres of lakes, fountains, and lush landscaping throughout the mall property, providing you with a calm, welcoming shopping environment. Make your visit complete by taking in a movie at the Regal Cinemas 20 theater."

Downtown Disney would be a sweet location with plenty to do well into the night at Pleasure Island. Getting a room is the best option unless you're a local.

Have a cool place I go to over there. 4 bedroom/4bath/2 story. It is around ~$350/night. And sleeps 15. Also have 1 bedroom studios, 2bed/2bath, 3 bad/3 bath. Damn good prices for how nice they are. All have In Room Jacuzzi's, big screens and ish. If someone wants to get in on it we can save some money.

-Keith

I still got my stone guard from last year I won...I have nothing worth guarding yet.:( damn my failure to buy ZKWs.

OF and a Tampa Prelude Group had a meet at Downtown Disney, we parked together, hung out after explaining to Security what was going on, then got something to eat. we had 100 cars or so..all makes..this was a few years back though.

It sucks, I get it all the time at the gas station. I don't shave, always have a tie on, look like I am 30 but still get "Filling dad's car up for him huh?"

Ain't nuttin' wrong lookin' like "dirty thirty"!

that sounds so f***ing bad*ss!!! dude, this is gonna be hot!!! i can't wait. Maybe we can bring in a large BMW dealership to help sponsor the event!!! I'm sure with this much going on they would be more than happy to plaster their name on it for a few bucks.

120-130, I helped tag 'em for the raffle last year.

IIRC Gooten from 318ti.org drove down from North Carolina for the event in his black 318ti.
