Thanks for crediting the Chase car :)

It does look like that, but no, someone else did hit the pole though, its kinda crooked, I don't like parking there because it looks like its about to fall over ontop of all the cars... I'm waiting for a more serious storm to finish the job... lol I had to keep traction control on because the M5 wanted to slide out and have some fun too lol, I started to slip at the very beginning when I sped up to get right on him... fun times

nice, now you guys need to tandem it and find a 3rd car to chase haha

Lol, I suggested that, but I'm not that skilled yet... I don't have alot of experience. I came from driving a SUV, lol I've only had a bmw since May, and then I had to break the engine in... David has had alot more practice and experience in not just the E46 but his dad's M5 as well.

I've actually only had decent practice on like 5 or 6 times... that weren't for that long, so I'm a little more reserved when trying areas like that that have things to hit. I think I'm gonna give that spot a try though before too long and practice a little more and hone my skills before someone tries to tandem with me. Jeff is probably the only one right now if even that would be dare devil enough to try a tandem with me...

I have no problem drifting when I get it going, I just don't have a great feel of the throttle it takes to initiate the slide. I give it too little and I understeer, and sometimes I give it too much and will go into a donut.

Although, when my practice is up I'm sure David and I will get ya'll some tandem M5 on M5 action! *In Jeff's voice* "It'll be a niiiiiice"

cool, totally understandable dude, the good thing is that you like the sport and are not afraid to try it once in a while. A few of my friends learned to master drifting the hard way, by smacking into curbs and a few other objects, so just make sure you practice in an area where you cant hit anything!

drifting is super fun and i encourage anyone and everyone to try it as long as they are comfortable controlling their car and confident about doing it.

i was invited to a private drift event at Orlando Speed World so hopefully i can get some decent footage out there!!! should be in a few weeks..

Haha...sorry Ryan...yes, Ryan did a good job following/filming...;)

That spot is pretty cool...it has a few exits that I can connect for a few more corners...I'm going to try and play with it a little more...:)

I'd love to get Jeff and Chris down here...I'd show you two a good time...;)

5ers make good camera cars. Yay (semi) comfortable ride!

My dad took us around the on ramp to 275 westbound from downtown, it stuck like glue, I don't think I have ever been around there any faster.

We will go have some fun for sure when I do get my license.

Oh and it doesn't count if your sideways and your speedometer is reading 100mph.

Haha...I have a feeling Jeff would find a way to go faster...;)

It's the same camera mount that I have always used for auto-x but I put it in Ryan's car for the taping...here's a picture of how it mounts...

badass session. ryan be careful with that car, one wrong move can really **** **** up, so empty areas are the only place id say to go out until you got the feel of your car. you just gotta push it bit by bit until you feel like you know the limits

When I get my license, we will see.

I mean I know it is a 5 series, but it does have seriously low profile high performance summer tires, a very very stiff suspension, and a wide track.

I weigh 3800 with Driver and fuel.

I think the drivers will play a big role....Not so much the car.

Yeah, but if you pass the limits of adhesion on that courner you could be in big trouble.

i drifted my Mazda accidently within the first few weeks of having it  it was funny as hell bc it is a 50/50 torque distribution but it understeers a lot but for some odd reason i got the back end lose and i was really suprised bc i thought it was FWD and then it kicked into AWD but i guess not :dunno:...

i miss my Betty though, now that car with some wet parking lots in Cary, NC and OMG you wanna talk about fun  i almost wrecked the hell out of my car doing a stupid drifting stunt showing off my cars abilities to a buddy of mine, unfortunatly at the time i didnt have even close to the same driving abilities with the car yet... it took me a good month just to even drift another corner

i'd really like to see everyone's definition of "drifting" by means of photos or video...

remember kids, drifting does not mean just swinging the back end of your car around, especially if you do it by accident...

+1...

I don't even call the stuff in the videos that I post drifting...because it really isn't. Most of it is just controlled power oversteer...

Real "drifting" is all about weight transition and lots of other techniques that I'd guess 80% of the rest of the forum hasn't even heard about...

Also, LOL @ you for thinking you were drifting your Mazda...maybe you BARELY kicked the back out but drifting...like the real guys do it...:bs:

Anyway, we need to get some video of some real drifting going on...:D

Check out this video - if you aren't doing this than you aren't drifting...

Hehe no, I do that all the time, especially coming out of publix! extreme grocery shopping! Too easy, all you gotta do is DSC off and p500 lol!

http://videos.streetfire.net/search/floridagerman/0/wm/3fca635d-f30b-451d-ae2c-8355a4c6759d.htm

Thats me the first time I ever drifted lol, the middle part is long and boring and just me messing up, no cool donuts or anything, I just stopped the car after every mess up because I just wanted to focus on drifting. Per David's comments he was right, I was just giving the car too much gas.

well i probably did just oversteer the rear end a little bit, but going up the on ramp of a highway in Wilmington staring at the inner part of the wall for a second or 2 scared the **** out of me in my Mazda , its just not the drifting kind of vehicle...

but i did do some real drifting in my BMW, my ex-buddy can vouch for that. it wasnt extreme drifting but it was me actually trying to understand how to do it and i got the hang of it after a little bit (i guess its just easier with an automatic hahaha)... drifting started off as really hard to keep it through the turns but i started to get the hang of the on/off style with the throttle (someone told me there was an easier way in an auto outside of using the e-brake, but i cant remember what they told me to do)... on a really rainy night i used to drift like a certain part of a parking lot of an office center, and that was a lot harder in the rain hahaha

i really honestly dont know how well i could do it now since i havent tried it since before i left for FL back in September 2005... i would love to learn how to drift a manual, but since i dont have a manual car here at the house to drive daily i would need a lot of practice...

i've heard of very few automatic cars actually pull off a nice drift, and they are much harder to acomplish drifting in than a manual. I've never even seen one in person pull a nice drift. I'm still not sure wether you know the difference between real drifting and just sliding around.
