Divine sounds on the corner of Waters and Dale mabry

I had my Windows Tinted in my 2003 M5 2 weeks ago.

(Note 2003 was the only year the e39 m5 came with dvd navigation.)

While my car was there my DVD navigation was taken and swapped out with a regular CD navigation.

After confronting the Shop owner (who happens to have a 2001 M5 that Comes with a Cd navigation.) He claims he didnt take it and He has my car on Camera the whole time they worked on it.

Police show up and fill out a report, ask questions etc..., When they pull the video it shows the camera being moved as soon as my car gets pulled in and then it goes back after my car leaves.

The Police told me they have got a few calls like this to the same place, and they Also mentioned they had a sting operation on the place years back.


So dont make the same Mistake I did.

I couldn't stand that shop or the owner before they moved there from the hole they were in on Waters Ave. Back in the day....say early 90's when neons were in. They installed them on my car by tucking them under the plastic trim. No securing and so forth. When I confronted them they accused me of moving the neon bars. They are shady, and always have been. I miss Tampa Bay Autosound.

they just clipped the changer and DVD and stuck in a CD based unit right? or is it a lot more involved than that?

it's a simple swap. takes less than 5 minutes.

Yes its a plug and play Swap, both units have the same plugs...and its 3 bolts to pull the whole unit out.

They took my unit and put a cd based unit in it. Yes they have serial numbers but BMW told me they cant tell you what car they went too.

The police took down the serial number off the one thats in my car now, but they said they cannot go and search there place for the unit without and warrent. And Im sure its long gone now.

My dad said if the cops wanted to, they could get a warrant and pull it out of the car. If it didn't belong in there and the guy can't prove how he purchased it, he would be in big trouble.

My unit was not in his m5. We checked that.

That's so messed up man... there is nothing that pisses me off more as it pertains to my car, than a shop that does shoddy work, never-mind steal from me! People like that need to be exposed. Isn't there a Tampa Bay area news that confronts businesses like this? I suppose the police conducting their undercover shit wouldn't like that very much though.

I like your style McLovin... make it the most expensive DVD-based nav computer he ever acquired!! Next time I am in Tampa for work I will stop by and ask him if he has any stock DVD nav systems to fit my '03 M5 and see what he says.

Truly sorry about your loss JCapelo. That is exactly why I don't take my car ANYWHERE... you wouldn't believe the sh!t I've seen passed off as "professional" work that I could have had some hack do for $20. Took my 740i to one guy because the power steering pump was intermittently cutting out and he was prying around on the traction struts. F. Really?? Nevermind boss, I'll figure it out myself. On top of that, you can't trust them not to steal from you.

Going into that place always made me feel dirty. I had some tint work and a sub/amp installed at Divine Sounds back in 2000. Work was amateur at best and the tint was garbage.
