David (BritRide01) test drove a 335i Sport 6 Speed at Reeves the other day. I should tell him to chime in and tell us what he thinks.

the 6 spds are being used as demo cars for people to test, or they are also sometimes on the lots bc people have pre ordered them... they are for sale but you just have to order them...

There wasnt one at Reeves when I was there, I asked the salesman and his response was "The 6 speeds are not available yet, and when they are released they are going to be by order only" I asked when they were going to be "released" he said he wasnt sure they were taking orders only in order to get a 6 speed

Imagine that!!! At a BMW DEALERSHIP!!!

lol our service advisers actually are very honest people for the most part, since they just relay what the customer needs from the honest technicians...the salespeople are probably entirely different animals though lol

Which one do you use, I have hated everyone. My last survey they got all 1s that related to the SA and all 5s that related the the quality of the service.

Yay...okay us techs like the CSI score high because if the whole shop's CSI score is high, they all get a bit of a bonus, plus a better chance at "Technician of the Quarter" as well as not having to hear people beat down on you for the stupid simple stuff that you forgot.

I've been meaning to get some pics of our 2 335i's..I REALLY REALLY wish I had brought my camera to take pics of them too, because I got in a minor collision with the daily driver today and wish I had pics of the scene itself (http://srqracing.phpwebhosting.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=107 for details)

From the sound of it you're a BMW technician. I would like to ask you personally then if you would consider this a stupid simple mistake to forget..

To those people who said this engine doesnt have any potential...bull. I've got pictures of piping that screams "restrictive" (one of them has the radiator hose in the way, sorry though lol)

Sorta hard to see alot of the stuff I was trying to point out (the wastegate has a threaded adjustment!! How about we just keep the damn thing shut a bit more!!!) with mostly the restrictive stuff involved in the production.

Oh, and one final thing...I forgot to nab a pic at the time, but lets say that this wont be the only N54 chassis...BMW has emissions approved for "335i, 335Ci, 335xi, and 335Ci Convertable" chassis...so even though they havent mentioned it, they HAVE to be making them...why bother trying to pass emissions with these other cars (AWD, sedan, and vert) if they werent serious about producing them??

A4ringedONE8T
09-14-2006, 07:36 PM
Just because it has an adjustment screw on the wastegate doesnt mean sh*t! You obviously dont know much about the technology of the recent cars!! My car has the same type of wastegate and the computer controls it all. You can adjust that nut however you want and the ECU adapts to make the boost it is programmed to see! So nice try, but it requires a little more than that!!!!!!!

and yes chris, it would rape. It think a 335xi vs an sti would be a very good race. You'd have to do one on a track and the other on a rally course to see which is faster, then which hs a better awd system.

Thats re-****ing-diculous.......I bet this car wont even run without a single O2 sensor then, right? bleh...my ol' 88 on the other hand doesnt have any O2 sensors connected right now (the only one) and it runs fine...TPS is connected, but hardly makes a difference otherwise.

Are we really getting ahead with technology or ahead of ourselves? I wonder what would happen if you switched the firing of cyls 2 and 5 for instance...my car still runs with that...sounds like its running backwards, but ****, it runs without much problem...

Sorry lol...I LOVE efi compared to carbs...but the 80s/early 90s had the best system with the least involved...cars have too much **** these days...my Miata has manual windows, locks, transmission, no ABS, infact my brake booster is at least half dead so manual brakes, and little bitty (very light) 14" wheels...the car barely weighs over 2000 lbs yet the BMW equivilent of today weighs 50% more...

oh well. Z4s are far better than Miatas in so many ways, I just wish not every single damn car had to have all the latest technology of yesteryear dragged into it...I LIKE manual windows, I LOVE manual transmissions, I LOVE throttle cables, having ONE O2 sensor is ENOUGH...etc. etc.

And yet after all of that, the N54 is only one factor short of being my ideal perfect engine...its all aluminum for the most part, TT, direct injection, 3.0 dual VANOS I6...all it needs now is to run off of hydrogen and perfection has been reached.

I am probably going to be going down to Bert Smith to do a test drive with a friend from work who I think would like the 335i. Mabye next week... we'll see, I think they'd be fine with it considering I bought my 06 M3 from them =)

The potential this car has and probability for inexpensive upgrades for BIG power a few years down the road is great. The low end power will make it a nice DD as it is, and the newer gadgets on the new model BMW's are kinda nice. The stock sound in these things blow the sound in my E46 M3 out of the water :)

new cars are just way too heavy. theyve got all that power but they need it just to put down the same times that the old car with way less power was setting. its quite rediculous how much crap they have in cars these days. you need a stereo for daily driving, AC/heat is preferred but not truly needed.powere windows and locks are nice but again not necessary. manual seats, manual everything...we dont need this electric crap! the motors just take away from the car...

I don't know if I'd go THAT far, some cars really can use that stuff. I don't think BMWs really need to, but now that they're more a luxury brand than a sports brand as far as I can tell, it's become a necessity for them.

On BMWs of course not...but if it has the ///M badge...which last I checked, stood for "motorsport"...then I dunno, maybe it should be motorsport oriented...

Thr ///M Coupe does a fairly decent job with this...high revving N/A with over 100HP per liter, 6 speed only (weee!), no cruise control, manual seats,

i agree with azzman e28-e34-m5s and e30 m3 where more sports oriented in their time then the newer m series they had close to none luxury amenities in them at least the german models the us models of course us americans cant live with a bimmer with no leather, power windows,a/c,sunroof,power locks, power seats , and so on. the average bmw owner owns a bimmer for 70% its luxury 30% its sportyness now the average ///m owner owns it for 90% its sportyness and 10% its luxury.to prove my point look at the 3.0 csl and the e46 m3 csl :dunno:
