Hello everyone.

I would like to do some track time in sebring, homestead etc etc, so i called some racing schools that do DEs, and im not sure which one to go with. I talked to PBOC, NASA, and looked on the website for Chin, but not sure which to choose. I am looking for the school that provides the most track time, and eventually be able to drive solo (the sooner the better). So if you have any experience with any school, listed or not, let me know. I appreciate the help.

Thanks

I've run with most of the clubs and Chin will get you the most track time.

+1 on Chin

PBOC denied me track time at Sebring because they felt the roll bar on the Miata did not conform. I didn't find out until the tech inspection at driver check in. I was disappointed, but what can you argue when it is an alleged safety issue?

sorry to hear about your issue with PBOC, but that is the fault of the shop that did the initial tech inspection for you. That is something they need to point out.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume the roll bar was lower than your head with helmet on and that's why it was denied?

Actually, no. Not me as I am only 5'5. My normal seating position kept the helmet below the bar. They were concerned about the instructor. You know even today, I do not and never will hold a grudge against them. It was for the safety of others. I think had I been Solo then they would have let me run. The Chateau Elan was REALLY nice. I stayed for a while and watched some old E30 race cars, and some of my buddies that I went with run the track.

Its all good.

well what I was saying applies to either you or the instructor. You have to take that into effect. I know here locally I helped test-fit a seat for someone else's miata and they way the seat was installed it couldn't take an instructor over about 5'10". Because of that I had to tell them to take the passenger seat off rails and bolt it to the floor which fixed the problem. The only reason we knew to do that was because I instructed a miata like yours where the student's seat was below the bar but I was not. I let it slide that one weekend which was probably a huge mistake, but I would hate to see someone lose the day they just paid for. What PBOC should have done was try to find a shorter instructor for the car, but at the same time it isn't their fault that it was set up like that. It sucks, I know, but the more you do these events you find out all this stuff. Unfortunately you had to find out the hard way.

They gave me money back, which they didn't have to do. But yeah, my Instructor was like 6'3. LOL..

He would have had bugs in grill, err shield, since his melon peaked out above the windshield. There are a lot of peeps that bolt to the floor. A lot even do that AND remove foam from the seats.

OK, ending the thread jack now.
