i was one of those guys that was very, very skeptical about BMW putting a V-8 in the new M3 but now after seeing the videos, especially this one im SOLD!!!!! how about anyone else?

i heard about this car... but i think it will still be the same story of the IS350 vs the 330i Sport, sure the Lexus is faster in a straight line but from what i have read and heard from personal accounts, the Bimmer is still the best and Lexus just cant compete with the true drivability of the BMW's...

and they always will... Lexus is a great car company dont get me wrong with any sh!t that i talk about them... i think that outside of BMW Infiniti and Lexus are starting to understand better than even MB and Audi at times what makes a great performance car... Acura would have already been 2nd in my book with the TL if it werent FWD, but man that car is a sweet car all around...

Quality wise I will always choose Acura then Lexus. But they just did not have the performance I wanted. I almost picked up the new intelligent AWD RL but wussed out. Said when I get old and "need" a car that big. I had that super huge Q45 for a year and never needed the room. I think next I want to get a QX56 or 4.8 X5...........or vette.

Quality wise I will always choose Acura then Lexus. But they just did not have the performance I wanted. I almost picked up the new intelligent AWD RL but wussed out. my brother had his TL in for some service and they loaned him a brand new RL, OMG that thing was smooth as silk, i really, really liked the way it drove... it has AWD but i broke those tires loose in a few turns like it was a RWD car :lol:, my older brother doesnt really know how to do performance driving that well so he was getting a little scared when i was taking some tight turns :lol:

I dont know if Im wild about a V8 engine in the Lexus. It seems odd to me to have a 250 with 200hp, a 350 with 300hp, and a 500 with 400hp. To be honest its not really in the same category as the M3. I think the link that was posted about it was trying to say Lexus is aiming more at the profit margin the M3 has produced in BMW sales by trying out the IS500. I dont think its an M3 competitor IMO.

bro its gonna be a v8 powerplant with around 400 horses, paddleshift or 6 speed fully manual, and is going to debut around the same time. and its going to be rear wheel drive. that is definately a competitior. we'll just have to see how the lexus actually drives and handles, but id assume it wont be bad:shrug:

lets see back in the 90's the M3 came in a sedan version and now there will be a E90 M3 (E90=Sedan, E92=Coupe, E93=Convertible), so how is the IS500 not in with the M3? hell the M3 has always been the only 2dr variant of its competitors, ex: the MB C36,32,55 AMG models have all been 4 door, the Audi RS4 and S4 have always been 4 door, and the Cadillac CTS-V is a 4dr... the Caddy is rumored to come in a 2dr version in either 2008 or 09, and the MB C63 AMG will come in a 2dr and convertible...

how can you not compare them? so the CTS-V has 2 extra doors, they have almost the same amount of room in them and they weigh close to one another and they have big engines that go fast and handle really, really well....
the have similar head room front and rear... sure the Caddy is a bit bigger bc it has 2 extra doors and a much better trunk, but its suprisingly small compared with the M3...

true the Caddy only is rumored but the MB is real... also you have to understand that the CTS-V is a performance driven automobile tested on the Nurburgring to battle the Audi RS4/S4, MB C-AMG and the BMW M3, it was made to fight them and have to extra doors for kids and groceries (compared with the M3 not the others)... the M3 and the CTS-V are competitors, it doesnt matter how many doors they have it is their engine, performance, size and price that make them competitive to one another... you stick them on a drag strip and most likely the CTS-V will eat the M3 up and if you stick them on a real race track i think that it would be pretty damn close in a real race with 2 very experienced drivers or even 2 avg drivers...
by the way the M3 is considered a luxury sports coupe, that is why it battles the Corvette and the 911 as well...

idk i have to disagree...
what about the M5? the S55 and S65 AMG Sedans? what about the STS-V and the CTS-V, the E55 AMG, CLS 55 AMG, E63 AMG, CLS63 AMG? what about all of those? i think that now a days bc of companies like BMW and MB, car companies have switched their role from luxury first to performance first and luxury second, it shows in everyone from Chrysler to Chevy and Ford even Toyota and anyone else you wanna think of having a performance driven automobile (mainly sedans...) and a lot of them are being tested on the Nurburgring... so explain that to me?

well your opinion is based on a personal preferenace while mine is as well...
the magazines test these cars against one another and i have had the pleasure to have some experinces with some of those cars, and i agree with some of the magazines and editorials i read about them, that they are very close to one another...

well i dont have first hand knowledge of them on the track and i never said that i did... but i do have first hand knowledge of each car by either driving them or riding in them... and i dont know everything bc i read it on the internet i read a lot of magazines and have some first hand knowledge and also talk with proffesional race car drivers at times that i have known...
but again FLA's perspective is of personal opinion just like mine, but i get my opinion of why these cars are in the same class and league as one another simply by the tests that i have read about and also driving or riding in these certain automobiles.
