I heard the same on every forum I have ever been on.
I heard the same on every forum I have ever been on.
just make sure you have 1 full day, mabye 2, to set aside for doing it all properly.
im saving that 6 step process stuff for when my paint is a little more beat up. being that the car is 4 months old i think it would be kind of a waste, right now i just wash+wax. I use maguiers stuff, but recenlty tried out some "pink wax" from finish kare (fk21usa.com) after I bought some crazy good detail spray from them 'fk1'. The wax was tough to put on and take off (i guess this is common to pastes) but has proven to be much longer lasting than the maguiers nxt tech wax I used before.

zaino does take a very long time, and doesnt work too well with other products ive heard. its alright for someone doing it themselves i guess but you have to use pretty much nothing but zaino. i wouldnt say they suck or anything, but theres better stuff out there...
although, i could use anything a customer wanted me to if they dont trust my arsenal of products. like if somebody wanted to have there car zaino'd, i dont know if i would buy it or not, but i would definately do all the work on the car

most of the stuff you can get at autozone or walmart is complete crap. very cheap ****. the mothers and meguiars lines are pretty decent for the everyday person, but if you want the good stuff, you gotta put down some cash.most people arent willing to shell out the money for good care care products because they dont see the difference. thats how i was until i started detailing. now its my duty to make as many cars look as good as i can:D

never used them and i dont hear much about them either good or bad, they stay under the radar pretty well i guess lol... i kind of put them in the same general category as p21s products in my head.... kind of medium priced, better than over the counter stuff, does what it promises but its not really for me...

if anybody else is interested in prices for services, or is on a quest for knowledge pm me. i made up a rough price list , but it is subject to change on the condition and size of the vehicle, and a few other factors. if somebody wants some tips on detailing their own car or what products i use/recommend, its what im here for:thumbu:

i do most of my shopping on autogeek.net ...they have there own product lines which are very good, and they also carry some amazing product lines. one of the lines they dont make but carry is poorboys world products. so far all ive used is the pure sealant and i love it, many people like there swirl removers( ssr1 and ssr2.5) but i havent tried those. poorboys provides great results and is actually not very expensive. the other few lines i really like are pinnacle, wolfgang and DP. DP stands for detailers pride... its made for professional detailers with great products and fairly good prices. wolfgang is made with german technology and i think uses mainly polymer protection(synthetic). id say there most raved about product is the deep gloss sealant. havent used it because i like my poorboys sealant lol. pinnacle is the ****! a bit pricey in most cases, but its the best of the best. i use pannacles XMT swirl removers and a few of their waxes, such as souveran, the claim to fame for them. it is hands down the best wax you can buy as far as looks go. it only lasts for a month tops, but this is show winning wax. goes for 70 bucks/8 ounces. very expensive, i have 2 tubs of it on hand. wow thats a lot of writing... if you wanna know more please pm me about it so im not wasting all this space with cluttered sentences i shouldnt be writing at midnight haha...time for bed...

i normally wait to start until around 7, or in the shorter months, just before dark. i usually get the front end first to get the bugs off because if i wait till later ill spend forever on it while the rest of the car spots up...um i also do like a section or a side, whatever and rinse the whole car to keep it wet, do another section or whatever, rinse the whole car quickly. and when your all done washing rinse it off and try to start drying quickly...whatever is in the sun most(ie: left or right side, or top sides) get that first...dont do it perfect just a quick wipe and come back around afterwards to do it better. you also might wanna look into some QD's( quick detailers, the stuff you use to lube claybars) just spray and wipe...should remove any fresh waterspots that havent etched the paint(they will after a while) and leaves a nice glossy finish. i really like the mothers showtime, smells like cinnamon and does a good job.
also, the right paint car should help water bead up even in high heat. when it rains, my car will bead up for hours after, even in direct sunlight, i swear. im pretty sure its because of the poorboys ex-p sealant, so id recommend you try that out. if you want a bottle, ill add it to my next order and you can pay me back when it comes in, otherwise youll have to pay shipping and everything...or i can just do it.

For a few minutes...
Turtle wax I used for a few months on my previous BMW. It lasted a long time compared to other waxes, but it left a nasty chunky residue. That and it stuck in cracks, so I had a white compound in the cracks of a black car.. Not cool..
I use that nano wax stuff at the moment.. Pretty good.. Doesn't seem to last long though..
Zaino is nice, but expensive and takes a lot of time.. Don't care for it too much.
Mequiars seems to be the best between both worlds for me. Not expensive, doesn't chunk up, and lasts for some time..

as far as storebaught id say stick witht he meguiars. turtle wax is some of the worst stuff created, and nano wax is not very good either. meguiars makes some pretty good stuff, mothers isnt bad either.

Yeah, the car was in the sun all day before I started. :banghead: I'll have to start later in the day next time. I have some speed shine from Griot's Garage to use on water spot. Works well with a microfiber cloth.

I noticed the same thing with Turtle wax. It lasted a long time, but let white residue on the car for months. How many washes are waxes supposed to last? Mine are only lasting two or three washes. :(

just depends on the quality of the wax and what its made of... get a sealant, they usually last upto/around 6 months. like i said if you want some poorboys ex-p ill put it on my next order from autogeek, or i have a bottle if you wanted like on application...
if the car is hot when you start, try to run the cool water from the hose over it for a minute...it helps

lexol is pretty good stuff i think, its a fairly trusted name for leather, as well as leatherique products. for conditiong id also say pinnacle leather conditioner, gets great reviews....
jack- i could get it that reflective if the paint was that smooth. being that it was at a show, it had probably been wetsanded to remove the orange peel.although with a lambo, they might do that at a factory. the e90 in my original post has a lot of orange peel, most cars on the road do. it comes from the factory that way because of how the vehicles are painted. the only way to reduce or remove is wetsand and then polish to remove the sanding marks.that is what i could do, polish and top with a reflective wax, i wouldnt take the task of sanding somebodies car, too much liability and its not something ive been trained in or anything...

has anybody used a product called Penetrol for their dash and door panels and stuff, and also plastic or rubber parts on the outside of their car? It makes ugly grey plastic look nice and BLACK! its so awesome.

Leatherique is amazing on leather. It's not cheap, nor is it a quick treatment, but it really softens up the leather.
