So it was my break time from work...
As I was leaving the shopping plaza I work at, I came to a stop sign before making a right. As a good citizen, I came to a complete stop and looked both ways. There were cars on the main street who had the right-of-way so I remained at a complete stop.
As I did so I notice the big red GMC pickup truck next to me accelerate hard for a left turn. I live a in a college town, (Gainesville, FL) so there are plenty of idiotic teens driving on the roads. The truck (18 year old driver) was trying to show of for their friends behind them not realizing there is a car directly in front. I sat there a witnessed a classic scenerio T-Bone collision.
The truck slammed directly into the center two doors on the passenger side of a Toyota Corolla, ripping off the rear door and bending the frame. I sat there in astonishment. Just thinking what an idiot the driver was. Once the cars came to a complete stop, the Corolla began rolling slowly down an incline towards my car. I sat there looking at the driver who was in shock and thinking "HIT THE BRAKES!!!" and of course she did not.
Her Corolla wound up rolling into mine at a slow pace not even causing a thud. I was just hoping that there was no damage as well as hoping the people in the car were alright. I did have enough time to watch their reactions and knew that they were not injured but only scared. I got out of the car and saw that the slow rest on my car caused a good bend/dent to my front fender.
Nobody was injured, the driver of the truck received a nice ticket. And now I have to deal with all of the pain in the ass insurence claims and worry about the repairs. My car has original paint, original pin stripe and the Carfax has remained completely clean until now.
I am worried that if I fight for a BMW shop to do the repairs, that the costs could exceed the value of what my car is worth on the books. I want to be able to say that all the paint was done by BMW and I want to have the original pin stripe. The damage is not horrible, but it is also not able to be bent back in place. It has to be repaired.
I am glad nobody was hurt but now I have to go threw hell to get my repairs the way I want them. I don't have any pictures of the other cars but only that of mine. The pictures do not show the damage as clearly as they are seen in person.
