ok so for ****s and giggles i am thinking about getting a good job and saving my money... i have talked about this with my mom already and she likes the idea, now my dad i would never tell until after i have done it hahaha... anyway so once i save my money i am thinking that within the next 2 years i will be able to buy the German car of my taste and liking... i like all 3 of these cars but which one do you think is the best bargain in about 2 years? the cars are a 1997 Mercedes Benz C36 AMG, 2000 Audi S4, 1998 BMW M3 4dr and also a 1999 M3 Coupe... all are manuals except the MB of course... so here is my plan, to save at least 6 grand and then take a loan from a bank for another 6-7k (of course in 2 years these cars will drastically lower and that is why i am shooting for newer year M3's bc they will come down from almost 20k to about 15K and i can wheel and deal to about 12 or so) but an M3 after 1996 will do with good mileage of course...

german cars and bargain dont go together...... i would suggest getting an old p-car if you really want something german. An 87 944 turbo is a good car.

no bc im still looking for something with 4 usable seats... i like Porsche's a lot but i wouldnt own one unless i had a lot of money... im looking for something fun, easy to play around with, decent on the wallet and i know about BMW's and MB and i know a little bit about Audi's so im sticking to them, plus i know lots of people that have first hand knowledge of those cars more than P-Cars so that is another reason... i would like to stay in the mid-late 90's nothing really older...

thanks for the suggestion though LD, i like where your head is at... but German cars like the E36 M3 and the B5 S4 ring bargain bells in my head

Well, I would focus more on the job you're going to get first rather than the car you want to get in 2 years. But if i had to answer your question, Your gonna complain about anything besides a BMW so get that. I would actually call you a hypocrit if you got an Audi or MB as much as you've bashed them in other threads.

Edit: I actually change my answer. YOU HAVE A BRAND NEW MAZDA!!! WHY DO YOU WANT A 6-10 YEAR OLD CAR! Rediculous.

Why would you want to downgrade? Just for the sake of doing things on your own? Take advantage of it while its there.

So save your money. Just dont think about what kind of car to buy with it. Just save. Because thinking about what 1997-2000 car you want 2-3 years from now is just silly.

yeah start saving up your money for a new place... thats the way to avoid abuse from him.... once you have your own place then sell the cx7 (if thats really what you want to do) and get a decent car. Personally I would keep the cx7 for about 5 years while youre saving money and actually get something good

yea you gotta think about a downpayment on a house dude. the vehicle can be dealt with later, and try not to get an app, cause its just a waste of money that you dont get back, but real estate is somehting that virtually always appreciates so your money gets more value. you dont want to LOSE money. if i recall, your about 20 right? so getting your own place should be a concern.

well thats kind of the idea with the E36 M3... idk maybe ill by an older cheaper one... but i really like that they are pretty much easily maintaned in your own garage... the MB i love just bc i love that design period, i think that body style is a classic for that car, and the Audi, well of course it will always be AWESOME!!! bc its an S4

Well, as you could all guess, I would go for the merc. I love the C models, esp the older ones. The AMG would deff rock too. I think yud probably get more speed and performance out of the M3 though, but the merc would deff be a fun car too.

I think yur gonna get a better ride out of the merc too, a more comftorable feel. My dad had a 97 740iL before getting his Jag S Type R and it just didnt ride all that well int he long run, at least in my opinion.

If its raw power and speed that you want Id probably have to recomend the M3, but if you want an all around great car, a well rounded ride, the merc is probably yur best bet.

However, i doubt these cars will still be for sale in the future. Someone mentioned you having a brand new Mazda or somthing, just rock that for a while. Keep your job obviously, and when you get a good bit of $$ considering playing with some of it in the Stock Market. And, if you're luckey, you can consider getting a brand new S55 AMG instead of a used C.

Thats my opinion ne way. Good luck.

how does someone get a brand new car if they dont have a job?

well anyway i really agree with what kelso and others are saying about saving for a house as an alternative for a car, and just getting an older cheap car if you want something you can play around with. I know my car isnt really the type you are looking for, but it's been great to me during the time i've had it, it's always ran strong and never has small problems (only a couple big ones..) , and the car its self was not much over 1k. Personally I dont see myself buying a car over 5k for a very long time. My point is that not every older car is a clunker or money pit. My dad's e24 on the other hand is a MAJOR money pit haha.

fcuk it, get the m3.

trust me i love your car... i just want to still have something that can seat more than 2 people and also have some good cargo space... people always use me as the DD hahaha and i end up driving a lot of people around no matter what, so that is why i need the extra space, and its the kind of car that id love to be able to drive my neices and nephews in bc they like cars and they like when i drive them around in ours...

who is the car titled to??

just hurry up and start saving money for a home if your dad really is thinking about kicking you out. I would suggest buying a cheap place kind of in the country where it looks like it will be developed in the next 10-15 years. That way you will have a good cheap house, and in 10-15 years it will be worth a ton of money.
