View Full Version : Moving to Orlando! Good areas/apartments complexes?

Moving to Orlando from Winter Haven in a couple of weeks. Preferably looking into the Winter Park area as it is central for my work, gf's work, and UCF for her. Anyone recommend any good apts and areas to live in?? Not looking to spend more than $750-800 a month or so. Ideally, in the 6-750 range

Not to sound like a dick, but if you're looking for non shitty apartments in the heart of winter park, you're going to pay a bit more than 6-750. Now you can get an apartment on Aloma, or University for easy access to WP and UCF. Stay away from apartments right near UCF!

No offense taken lol, after rent specials it seems that these complexes are falling somewhere in that range. Not looking to dump money into a rental. Just making sure that I'm not moving into the ghetto as I'm not familiar with any pockets of ghetto that exist in Orlando

If you give me a street name of an apartment complex, I can tell you if it's shitty or not.

Barrington Place on Aloma is a nice place and I believe its right around your price. It's also less than 10 minutes from UCF and Winter Park. It's a nice area too.

I thought it sounded familiar, I had a friend that lived there and said it was terrible. 75% of the people rated it a 1 lol

Thats weird. A lot of people I know that live in there say it's pretty good. But its better off to follow the reviews. Sorry about that

crime hills and silverstar you mean.. i know to stay away from there lol. How is the area around Goldenrod?? Area right behind Baldwin Park on Semoran and University? (i know that is pricey but for piece of mind I'll shell out a little more). Thx for the help guys, going on monday to look at a slew of apartments.

The area around Baldwin park is quite nice on one side, goldenrod isn't too bad depending on the specific area.

yeah, kind of regretting the S now lol.. I'm torn with either buying a hardtop or just getting an LS3 vette by the end of the year

Gee, I just bought one...
It will hopefully get a garage within a year or so. If not, insurance will be getting me a hardtop and a set of race-seats.

lol yeah, I've already had someone steal my antenna, and that's here in Winter Haven. So I can't imagine Orlando.. *sigh* I knew this day would come. Damn hondas
ViperASR

Yea, I figure the antenna and seats are pretty much as good as gone. I even lowered the insurance deductible in preparation for what will happen in what I'm assuming will only be a few weeks.
And my brothers '99 SI got stolen and stripped a few years ago, so I know how this game is played.

Don't forget to get seat locks, I'm going to be ordering mine this week!
ViperASR

Seat locks will be coming soon. VIS hardtop after the top gets slashed. I just hope they don't steal the whole thing :(
You should come out to the martin event on Sunday, I'll be doing my first event in the S. I might stop by CFRC for a few mins on Saturday to see how their events are being run. But I sure aint paying no $10 to watch
Shoot me a PM if you find anywhere nice in your price range, especially if it has a garage. I'm going to be looking for a place in a few months basically in the same area ur looking.
ManBearPig
02-05-2010, 04:44 PM
I wanted to go to the Martin event, but I work on Super Bowl Sunday. Someone has to make Bridgestone/Firestone some money to run those damn advertisements lol...That's why I'm going to CFRC (which they are requiring every one to wear a helmet now so I bought a Snell rated one today). I will probably go to Martin next month if I don't have to work that Sunday.

Closer to Uni and Goldenrod.
East side near I-4 is iffy.

WPV is pretty nice. It has everything there too. Grocery store, tons of restaurants, movie theatre, and miscellaneous shops. The Orlando side can be iffy, but the Winter Park side is nice.

SEARCH IS OVER!
Found an apartment in the middle of "Downtown" Baldwin Park for $935/month including water/trash/sewer. 1134 SQ FT Loft with 1.5 baths right across the street from Five Guys and there's a Publix literally right behind and a CVS one block down. We'll be moving in 2 weeks! Thanks for everyone's help!

These people are crazy. They're telling me that, even though our dog is full-grown at 35-40lbs, he "exceeds" the weight limit of 50lbs because the breed on average is 45-60 lbs, so they're not going to let us move in.. that's the stupidest policy ever. They are losing a resident over technicalities that have no bearing on anyone's safety or anything. I guess it's back to the Lofts of Winter Park Village lol...

That sucks :(, but WPV is very nice!
