Looking at getting the wife an Audi A4 Sedan between 2000 & 2002. Just want to know if they are good cars and are they high maintenance. Looking to spend about $1o k, if someone has any other suggestions.
Please let me know, thanks.:D

Good car. Has typical "annoyances".. Expect the window regulators to fail, and expect the coil packs to fail. Both of those are fairly easily fixed with a little time and effort.
Spring for the 1.8T Quattro if you can find one in your price range.

Why the Quattro version, don't those have AWD (transfer case) for the rear end?

Yes, the Quattro is the AWD version. I'm of the mind that AWD in Florida is especially nice for the ladies. Safety first, ya know.

dude the b5 body started in 96 i belive so anything from 96 -01 its all the same so if you find a 96 with low miles it will be alot cheaper then a 2001 and have the same motor and everything 1.8t or 6 cyl ... i owned a 2000 1.8t awd manual which is super hard to find and a tt and my girl owned a tt... i wouldnt do audi again but for a nice dd for the women you can beat it.

i dont know how many people here actually *have* audis that have replied, but i would definately disagree with getting a used one. We've owned 2 of them and my friend has one in the same mileage range. After about 80k miles, everything starts to break. I hear 04 and up that it isn't as bad, but definately 98-2002 just disentigrate after 80k miles

good friend of mine bought a used one a few months ago and i think its very nice. disintegrating car usually just means bad owners(previously)

.... idk..... we bought a 99 A6, and my mom and dad both drove it until about 60-65k miles (and both of them drive normally). My sister got it after that when she turned 16, and once it got around 80k miles everything started going wrong. At about 75k is when stuff started happening. The CEL would keep flipping on and we'd take it in to get fixed and then it would come back on again (this happened 3 or 4 times). Then at 80k miles the warranty went out and we just had to get rid of it. It constantly had problems, and they were getting worse.

The B5 is my favorite A4 design. I don't know too much about reliability, but my friend's mom had one for the longest time and there were never any problems.

The lady bought a used one w/ about 60k on it and put another 40k on it. Ran great w/ the exception of a failed MAF.
Changed the timing belt at 70k as a precautionary measure.
Other than "annoyances" like the coil packs always failing, the window regulators breaking, and the interior plastic being "cheap" and flaking off, it was a great car.

i've got a 97 w/ 130000 miles...
owned it for more than a year now, put 30k on it, haven't had to do ANYTHING to fix it, exept for regular maintenance (oil, tires, and what not)
95-01 are identical exept for a few minor changes (tail lights) so any one of these is fine. i say get her an a4 2.8 Quattro.. those seem to hold up really well.
take it from an audi owner, you can't go wrong with one of these..
