So like the title says, rock chips are a pita. I have a small 1 on my hood, and it urks the heck outta me, without repainting, how can I make it less noticable, and prevent it from getting bigger, ie; more paint peeling from that spot.

Man, I have two huge chips on my BLACK hood. You've got it good if you only have a small one on a silver car.

Considering that my car is the only Avus OBD2 M3 that I know of: I decided to get some protection. Xpel protection that is. xpel.com. I just got some touch up paint and applied it before the protection, and hopefully, that will end most of the chips. Try www.paintscratch.com

With Black cars you can use a sharpie marker and just color in the marks. It sounds ghetto I know, but its a simple and cheap fix, it's not noticable from 2-3 feet. I've used this on a few cars, and it works. Sure you have to fill it in every few weeks because the ink with fade but hey, it's a lot cheaper than painting your whole hood/bumper again.

For silver? Well your just gonna have to find a silver marker of some kind..
Good luck Juco..

I'd recommend getting a clear bra if you want to prevent any more rock chips. They're hella expensive though.

Out of curiousity.. Justin which silver are you runnin? Arctic or Titanium?

Reason I ask is because I plan on having Gene Perez repaint my hood and front bumper someday here.. could probably get a better price if he had another customer out of it also.

Also prolly gonna get him to do some stuff in Jet Black if anyone wanted to get in on that too.

Titanium, although I went to the dealer and picked up some touch-up paint. We will see how well my painting skillz are. The chips aren't horrible, I just want to fill it in before it spreads.

Not looking to re-spray for awhile.

Although if you do goto Gene i'm sure you'll be pleased he does awesome work, but your right it is pricey. You get what you pay for though. :thumbu:

Hello. I am the local installer for 3M in the Tampa and surrounding areas. I have been in business for little over 6 years and have installed paint protection film on over 2100 vehicles. My installs are near perfect and hardly noticeable once the film is applied. The film is guaranteed to stop all rock chips and road debri from damaging your paint. If you want to see pictures of the film applied to your car, go to my site and click on the Gallery.

The kits that I use are Xpel patterns.

If you have any questions or would like prices please contact me.

Thank you!

I've been good. The guard on the Lexus is definately doing its job. It has already saved it from a ton of chips/dings.

If you wan't, we maybe able to talk about a little advertising through the Private Message system.

After 7 months of ownership I have a few small chips here and there, of course my car is black, so I notice them immediately. I have found a great way to avoid rock chips: not driving on I-95 to work every morning.
<o =""></o>
Of course the downside is that I drive in the inner Boca streets and I tend to go at I-95 speeds…thus my 61 in a 40 zone speeing ticket this morning
