I dunno if something's wrong with my wiring or something or what, but here's the deal:

With amp and sub connected, I'm severely limited in the amount of bass and volume I can pump through because the CD changer skips on every hard bass hit. It sucks.

With amp connected, sub disconnected, no problems.

With amp and sub disconnected, no problems.

With amp and sub connected but listening to radio, no problems.

Very annoying, I'm estimating that I'm only getting to enjoy about 45% of my gross thump potential (referred to as GTP henceforth).

My amp's ground is solid, all connections seem to be maintaining their integrity. This is an MTX class D mono amp driving a 10" DVC infinity sub...for such a small setup it's got some serious GTP and I'm pissed that I can't use it. I have it tapped into wiring pre-HK amp running on high-level inputs using the proper wiring harness and plugged into the amp's actual high-level input spot. I know it's not the best way, but it seems to be the only way to keep the factory HK stuff and factory headunit (I hate to spoil the look on the dash with an aftermarket unit. I know it'd sound 50 times better but I can't find one that I like enough)

Help me hit my full GTP!!

Any suggestions?

well i know you dont want a cd player but i think this one is the newer version of what i got. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panasonic-MP3-CD-In-dash-Player-CQC1333U-/sem/rpsm/oid/144927/catOid/-13089/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

i bought mine because it was so clean looking and would look good in my dash. i dont have a sub so i cant tell you about any experience with that but just showing you 1 kinda clean cd player

hans, if the stock cd player starts skipping when the subs hit hard, then the cd player is probably starting to die out. Does it ever skip when going over potholes or if you hit it from the side or something? I drove a friend's older lincoln town car that did the same thing, and eventually it started getting worse and worse, they just replaced the stock radio with a generic aftermarket one and everything sounds fine. Otherwise it seems you have a perfectly good setup going.

You can use a hi-lo converter.

Hans, I think it is just acting up due to age, regardless factory HUs suck. Mine skips for anything.

ahh...yeah i figured it was just gettin too old :(

what options do I have? i could buy a used factory one that's gonna go out on me pretty soon because they're all so old...

i could get butt-violated by the dealer on a brand new factory unit

i would ultimately prefer to find a CD43 at a good deal and just use that in the dash, ditch the cd changer and maybe in the future hook up a phatnoise or something like that to the cd changer control.

anybody got a CD43 for me?

CD43, otherwise known as BMW Business headunit, is an in-dash CD player upgrade from the CD33 - more watts, better sound, and slot-load in-dash CD player.

As you may imagine..they pull a pretty penny, cuz everybody wants one, and nobody has them. :(. Well, the dealer has them, but we all know how that goes...

In that case go aftermarket. Give me an example. How much used and then how much on realoem?
