soooo, uh yeah.... one of my friends goes "hey theres a blue wrx wagon at reeves i just passed by it"
now its at my house
if anyone wants to give me 3 grand or if they drop 3 grand off the price we're getting it. It's a 2006 with the new facelift and 2.5L engine, I'm excited. I really tried for a german but for now this is the best I can do. In maybe like 5-10 years I'll be driving a german

yeah, we're "testing" it for the night, maybe hopefully tomorrow too. My dad is acting like an a$s now, but hopefully we can figure something out. I'm just happy to finally be getting another car, and this is one I know really well.

why are you getting a 2.5rs?
LDadrenaline
08-29-2006, 09:07 PM
*looks for where he said 2.5rs* *only sees wrx written*
wrx not 2.5rs.... and my dad wont budge from 20 grand, so hopefully they will drop

oh sorry i thought the 2.5l engine only came in the rs model not the WRX

in 2006 (this year lol) they switched all cars to the 2.5 litre.... wrx only increased by like 3 hp, so they mustve downgraded the turbo or something. Either that or its factory underrated
kelso
08-29-2006, 09:53 PM
i say its downgraded

It's essentially the same turbo. Why would a larger engine necessarily mean more power, with the same sized turbo? The stock turbo is tiny, and runs out of breath at high RPM's, which is the limiting factor on the power. More displacement will get it to spool faster, but you'll get the same max airflow, and with the same airflow, you'll only be able to add the same amount of fuel, and thus get the same amount of power. However, the extra half liter of displacement = more torque.
Btw, the stock 06 WRX turbo is virtually maxed out from the factory. I think Cobb was only able to get .2 more psi from 4-6k RPM by upping wastegate duty 30%, and when they tried to increase boost in the high RPM's, IAT's shot WAY up (that's what happens when you run a turbo past the limit of its efficiency).

i know you cant get a german, but for 20 grand i'd be all over something completely different...

what else would you get for 20 grand that can go to 290 hp with like $600 in mods??
and thnx for that ryan, lol i was kinda wondering why it only had 3 more hp. Unfortunately this time I will only be doing 2 power mods until warranty runs out. The AccessPort (ecu programmer) and the qtec again...

Well...are you gunna get it?
Kevlar
08-30-2006, 09:54 AM
True that. You could pick up a used B5 S4 for ~17k in good condition, and use the rest for a chip and catback. That'll put it at ~300 HP too. Plus, it's AWD ftw.

Anything not brand new..... considering my personal taste i would buy an imaculate 951 for like 7 or 8k, and spend the rest on making it whoop everyones ass. Lindsey Racing and a few other companies make a 390hp kit for a decent price, i guess i would go for that. Throw some pimp ass rims on it, insane suspension work including rear coilovers, maybe some cool body mods, etc... the possibilities are endless!
LDadrenaline
08-30-2006, 07:22 PM
yeah i meant what for 20k brand new though.... buying used subarus is ridiculous, they DO NOT depreciate until they hit like 80k miles
I did end up picking it up today, they only dropped to 23.3K, but i used my madd talkin skillz and got my mom to get it................so sexy mmmmm ill see if jack can get some pics soon hopefully tonight :)

well idk what the deal is now... my hip and ankle are still kinda swollen. I can walk and go up and down stairs, but i still cant run on the ankle because the full mobility isnt back yet. The hip (the joint between the hip and spine) *really* hurts when i sit for an extended period of time still....i.e. school.... so it must be the pin (bolt) putting pressure on the joint when I sit I guess. I go to therapy again tomorrow and hopefully he can tell me a little more than.

yeah dave, when i get my few mods done, ill laugh when i can run circles around you on a track and you just look good with your hamman kit and cool wheels :P
i dont really care that i didnt get anything german, i barely make any money and german parts are insanely overpriced so i wouldnt be able to afford anything. Since the car is under warranty, for 2 years I will only be doing 2 power mods (chip and exhaust), but definately (hopefully) all the suspension stuff

the interior looks *alot* better than the 04....doesnt look like a ford inside anymore.... only thing i dont like is they took away the momo steering wheel. its still made by momo, but it has the subaru emblem and isnt a lightweight racing wheel :)
and my internet stopped pausing, idk what the deal is with it

Any shots of the side of the car? At least the interior is nicer than an EVO. My biggest peeve about the WRX is how the doors rattle when you close them. I wonder if they fixed that in the new models?

It just makes the car feel cheap. Mercedes's 9 year old Honda feels built better (probably is).
LDadrenaline
09-01-2006, 07:02 PM
umm yeah.... seeing that subarus are also some of the most reliable cars (unless you thrash the 5 speed), i dont think theyre cheaply built. My friend just had his first engine problem at 140k miles and it's because he ran it with almost no oil.... The car is his DD and he races it in SCCA nationals, so it gets quite a bit of track time.

besides the tranny, people really dont have problems with them
