If anyone is in the Sarasota/Bradenton area and hasn't heard about the group that meets there...

Wednesday nights in Bradenton in the Albertsons parking lot on Cortez just west of US 41. 8pm-ish

Thursday nights In Sarasota, at Best Buy on US 41 (just south of Bee Ridge). 8-pm-ish.

Saturday nights at Best Buy too, people have been showing more at 8pm than the usual 7pm lately.

A couple weeks back we had 25+ cars on a Thursday night.

More info can be found at www.dubdojo.com in the DubReich sub-forum.

Dave you don't even come down to Sarasota to see Sean and I on the weekends or to meet my sister. Though you are willing to drive there for a meet. I am disappointed in you.

I'm heading to Bradenton Thursday night and staying til about Saturday. Some of my Sarasota friends told me about some audi/vdub meets and SRQracing meets at Hooters/US.41 on Saturady nights. Is that your group? I might come out Thursday and Saturday night and bring out my BMW, but since I'm home I'll be more tempted to take out the 350z, will I be given the dirty look? Thanks for the invite.

Yeah, we typically all meet at Best Buy then roll down to Hooters en mass to antagonize the ricers a bit... we havn't been eating at Hooters lately due to one of our group making a rude comment to one of the waitresses who was being rather rude herself... it involved her lack of qualifications to work there... hehe

like I said, anyone is welcome to come hang out...

I'll try to give you a call later... we're having a tech session to install my new rear swaybar... :)

I LOVE the MkV GTI. I got the 6-spd manual because DSG is auto, and auto is for sissies. Its really fun to drive, and the power is nuts for a factory 4-cylinder. Low end torque, power in EVERY gear, I've had it up to 140 indicated... the milage isn't bad either; i average about 22mpg city, and 30 highway (cruise set to 80).

I'll be chipping it soon... i was gonna do coilovers first, but then my condo complex put in a gauntlet of speed bumps... bastards!

I have had an intake on order for... yikes more than 2 months now... need to follow up on that. I'm undecided on what exhaust to go with. The fun part of having a NEW model is that all the mods are equally new...

That's cool, just look for either a white BMW or 350z on Saturday or I might roll with the BMW crew if they go down to Sarasota too. I might show up Thursday night if you guys are still meeting?

Pft, yeah, exactly, it's a 2.sl0w. Even worse, it's a green '99. And it's not mine. It's one of three of the family's cars. I just drive it to school because school is 2.6 miles away, and there's no point sticking someone else with it all day, since the rest of my family drives a lot more than me. When I go home after school I can just grab one of the other cars (A4 3.0 or S60R), so hey, it works out.

I'm trying to decide if I should get a car to take to Duke or not. I don't really -need- one, but it might be nice to have. I think i'll go up 1st semester without one, and if I decide it's a necessity, buy a car up there (no idea what yet).

Well yeah, I want an E46 M3 (~02, 6-speed, LSB, Steel Gray, or maybe Carbon Black).

I really like the STi of course, but my parents seem to be against it (they dont think it's safe enough? what?). So my second choice would be an M3, of course, but they're still a lot of money, especially for a used car (and especially when I'm going to an expensive school).

I don't know how old you are, but trust me, you want a car with ample back seat room and maybe even a 4 door when you're in college...

it comes in very. very. handy.

I miss college...

btw, I don't recommend doing your bachelors and masters in 5 years...

Yeah, that's true, because as little as I'd probably end up driving it, a lot of the time would be with friends, so 4 seats would be good... What a shame, the M3 is so awesome...

Just curious, why don't you recommend a bachelors and masters in 5 years? I'm not even sure how easy that is at Duke, but I think it's an option. (Heck, at Northwestern I got into a program that would have given me a bachelors, masters, and PhD in 6-7 years ).

FactorX

I went full time 11 semesters and part time 1 semester between fall 1999 and summer 2004... got both my Bachelors and Masters of Architecture and design... Oh, and there were two co-op semesters in there too...

its a hell of a lot of work, and in my field there isn't much benefit to the Masters... that... and a HELL of a lot of work and all nighters.

There is a meet at Best Buy in Sarasota EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT. 8pm-ish!

Kevlar

Ehhh, I'm not a huge fan of how the E36 M3/4 looks. Doesn't have the aggressive stance of the 2-door.

A bachelors and masters in 5 years might not be as difficult with engineering. I'm not really sure. But I will be coming in with over a semester worth of AP credits, so I'll see.

I could always pick up a cheap IS300 and turbo the crap out of it :D. 4-door Supra anyone?
