z3 looks like it might be half-decent with a good driver in STR next year. Could be fun.
Hopefully I'll be playing in STR next year :)

This year they have a new street tire class called STR. The z3 is included, and should be relatively competitive locally.
You should be STR legal as long as you dont have any crazy mods. It used to be that if you had an s2000 or z3 and put coil-overs on it, you were in BSP and uncompetitive, but now with STR it should be awesome.

A properly setup W126 can actually book it pretty good in corners. Its a nicely balanced car with a lot of stick. No sway bars available though, so you'll have to live with a little body roll.
I plan on doing a few track days/autocrosses when I finish my AMG 500SE.
The car in the posted video is a Euro 500SEC w/ rear SLS (doesn't seem to be working too well) and some unknown brand shocks up front w/ H&R lowering springs. Not exactly an optimal setup, haha.

As long as it is a catback, then you should be able to stay in stock class, but then you have the problem of people running slicks. I think STR would be a good class.
Unless you've never been before, at which point I suggest doing novice and getting an instructor to ride along with each run, and take your car for a spin to show you what it can do.
