I can't believe there hasn't been a thread started for this already. The last race of the season just happened and it was to decide the season championship. In the GT2 class, the Corvettes have been allowed a larger engine than normally allowed since they just bumped to that class. They have been strong contenders this year. It pretty much came down to this race, the Flying Lizards needed the win to secure the championship. Here is a video of the last couple of laps of the race. Very exciting ending.

Jan Magnusen in the Vette has just gotten past the Porsche but the race officials make him give the spot back because he used the pit road to pass which is not allowed. He has two laps to try to get back around the Porsche of Joerge Burgmiester of the Flying Lizard team. I'll let you watch the video before I comment more.

To give a little back story. Joerge Burgmiester was the victim of a similar circumstance in Sebring a couple of years ago against a Ferrari. The Ferrari was never penalized. Joerge learned his lesson and wasn't about to let it happen again. Here's the video from Sebring.

it was definitely a great season finale. ALMS has pretty much sucked this year but at least they went out with a bang. didn't get to see any flying lizard/corvette interviews after the race though.

If you look Burgmiester tapped the brakes, then the Vette spun. Means the Vette was turning into Burgmiester at the end, and when he touched the brakes, the Vette went around.

Pretty sweet finish. Good to see them racing hard till the end.

I can't change the title of this thread. I mispelled "exciting" and now I can't correct it. I swear I'm not illiterate. :flag:

i couldn't believe that shit when i saw it i was on me feet lol...yeah he may have tapped the brakes which may have caused the vette to spin but he was still forcing him into the wall...

i would think he was turning into burgmiester to try to keep himself off the wall...that was some nascar shit lol...i don't know how much i like that

I see what your saying and agree with you. I think it was just good hard racing that just got pushed a little overboard. I think burgmeister was pissed about getting tapped loose by the vette coming out of the hairpin.

Sucks for him, but its all in the competition of racing.

I remember that race from Sebring, it was an insane finish.

Heres a high def slow mo version that makes it all a little clearer. The Porsche actually veers off to the right and hits his brakes as the Corvette starts to get loose. I think the vette was trying to push back to avaide hitting the wall and expected the Porsche to be there but he wasn't and that sent the vette careening across the track. See for yourself.

I just edited my entire post ;)

Yea, I applaud Bergy for doing what he did. Magnussen was driving like an idiot those last few laps. That certainly wasn't the first time Magnussen bumped Bergy's car trying to unsettle it. Ahole driving if you ask me.

an eye for an eye...Magnusen tried to spin out the Flying Lizard Porsche in the last turn before the front straight - albeit a small tap so as not to appear to be up to no good...and he got exactly what he deserved - Burgmesiter ALMOST put him into the wall (but didn't, thus committing no wrongs), and had nothing to do with Magnusen's over-correcting, flying across the track, and into the other wall. besides, the regulations have allowed the Corvettes to run a larger motor than normal simply b/c its their first year in the GT2 class? wow, if that weren't in the regulations (and its bullshit that it is), that would be flat-out cheating. sorry Magnusen, your corvette's cool, but its no Porsche. ;)
