It's open to all, I believe - The Pcar vs BMW one is in... Sept? I don't remember.. Barry posted on TampaRacing when that was but I'm too lazy to go look for it.
Other than that, I don't know much. Never been out to one of their events. I think it's $30 for non-members and $20 for Porsche Club members.

yeah pca autoXs are open to all and you dont have to do pre registration like with bmw... i believe they did reschedule the porsche vs bmw for september or maybe even october. Its a cool place to run because half the runway is concrete and half is asphalt so it gives you a feel for both surfaces.

sounds pretty convincing... the condition of my car by saturday afternoon will determine wether or not i'll end up going.
so according to the site, you have to be there between 8:00am and 9:15am right? (just trying to calculate what time i'll have to leave in the morning..)

Yeah, the earlier the better so you can have time to go through tech, setup your area, and walk the course

I'm very sad - I won't have my new exhaust at the track :( Was hoping to hear the orgasmic sounds.. but oh well. I'll still be there, with the old stock exhaust. I cry. :(

I'm the same way. We had to take off the megaphone exhaust and put on some *tiny* mufflers to make it "street legal" (haha). It's still kinda loud, but nothing like before.
Yeah I think I have to work Sunday. I guess requesting off 2 weeks in advance isnt enough...
oh well, I wont have a new car by then anyways

weather turned out good. It was extremely foggy in the morning, but by the time racing started it had cleared up. Towards mid-day it got kind of hot, but not unbearable. There was a very small number of cars for an autocross, which is good, but we only got three runs plus fun-runs. There should have been more regular runs.
I agree it was a really good time though. I'll have to do more PCA events. Is the track always that dirty there?
Thanks fer kickin my butt (:owned:) today jake, I gotta find that second you beat me by somewhere....mmuuwahaha.

hey cool i didnt know you were on FG! There were probably like what, 5 of us?
I agree it was a fun day though, track design was fast through the first half, and then quite intense toward the second half. PCA where I live (Florida Citrus Region PCA) only allows Porsches unless you help set up the course or something, so be careful of which event you consider. As for the dirty track, it seems that it would always be dirty there, it was my first time there, but i know the autocross at the Deland airport (which is almost identical minus the half freshly-paved surface) is the exact same way. Sometimes there are guys with leaf blowers out there blowing the dirt off before races.
There are a few auto-x's near my area coming up, what area do you live in?

yeah today was pretty good, and they started late or else we wouldve gotten more runs. They also tried to do 2 groups in the morning in case it rained so everyone would at least have those runs. Everything was great though, and I know jack had fun watching :)
Good to finally meet you 944 (im bad with names sorry lol), and it seemed like everyone had a good time today. I only ran about 2 seconds off my dads time which I was happy with seeing ive only driven the car twice before and the first run i experienced "snap oversteer" for the first time.....aiming right towards my dad... hahahaha. 944 won his class, jake won his class, my dad got second in the other class, and it was a pretty good day overall.
Oh and I drove the cayman at the end and damm.... that thing is much wider and longer than my dads car. Officially I got 8 cones on that run I think. I nailed the first few gates so I decided to back off a hair (haha yeah right) and the car seemed to handle very well. It felt too "electronic" for me, with all the power assisted steering, brakes, throttle, shifting, clutch, and everything. Also all the leather and bucket seats made it wayyy to comfortable for me to take it driving seriously lol.... just my opinion in case anyone was thinking of buying it. If you like driving comfortable cars though, it handled great and had a decent amount of power.

Good times, nice meeting you 944 (even though we didn't get to chat much). :)
I liked it quite a bit, the track design was decent (albeit relatively easy compared to the ones we run at the BMW club, IMHO).. Nice slow 2nd gear all through the whole course with quite a bit of room in the gates. Aside from the absolute filth everywhere on the track, it was great.
For a description of the dirt level - My R-Comps were squeeling and screaming and breaking loose at LOW speeds, and my launches were completely hilarious - I was lining up facing AWAY from the course to the right side of the field because my wheelspin would have me facing directly into the 1st gate after torquing my way out of the starting gate! Those were gentle launches, too. :(
Justin got owned. ;) Looking forward to repeating that next month. ;) Hehe ;)
And as far as the Cayman - I wanted to try it out... but I know myself. I really like the design, and I'd probably end up lusting for one.
Oh, and fastest time on the "for real" runs was... 46.7 I think.. Fastest time on fun run was a 45.3! :)

hahaha faster track cars can be made than the cayman... just need to find a nice, cheap mid engine car to mod the hell out of :)
and yeah for my last sessions of fun runs the most i got down to was a 47 flat, but the tires were to the chords. I was burning out all the way through first gear and a little into second..... it was fun though

Elliott's the name, don't wear it out of course, j/k dont worry guys evvveerrryone either gets my name wrong or forgets it for some reason, so no worries. ;) Nice to meet you guys as well, the turbo roadster and the 911 targa were totally awesome, i'd love to have or drive either one!! :drive:
Well I dont know guys, I liked the course design and didnt mind the dirt so much, lots of friendly people and cool cars, but for 40 bucks in gas, about 3.5 hours to get there and back, and another 30 bucks to race for less than 3 minutes of seat time, I'm not sure if i could make it out to another event there anytime soon. I think they could have/should have at least squeezed another competitive run or two in, especially with all that extra time in the end for fun runs. :(
From what i've heard, the Brooksville events are a blast because the track is so huge(?). I might try to make it out to one of those events if there are any coming up other than the one next weekend. Do any of you guys go out to these events???

yeah brooksville has a longer runway to use, and the events are much more organized (props to barry!). BMW events at brooksville almost always have full registration (you have to sign up ahead of time on myautoevents.com), so there are at least 40 cars and sometimes closer to 50. Less runs because of all the cars, but its more organized so they can fit more runs into less time. Had PCA gotten their act together and started on time, we could've gotten 8-10 runs i bet. We had 3 in the morning and most did 3-4 "fun runs" in the afternoon.

haha yea exactly. Well the MSCC events in my area have over 100 drivers each month, august it was close to 130!!! but they still manage to give you 5 or 6 runs throughout the day, sometimes even fun runs. It's amazing, now THATS organization! :alright:
The Florida Citrus Region PCA events will give you no less than 8 runs, and every time i've been there i've gotten 10, minus one event where i exploded my tranny. But then again, the event host is the MSCC that runs the regular autox's, so they know what theyre doing. ;)
All in all, im glad i came out to Zeph, I like going to events that are elsewhere from the regular, and of course getting to meet all the new people! :highfive:

yeah the subaru was heavily modded, but only really suspension wise. All he has is an exhaust and he isn't even chipped yet, he didnt have time to install it. Still, its good handling but it only has like 185 hp i think
and next autoX i will be rocking the new 2006 wrb wrx wagon :)

and yet i bet with it unmodded i can still outrun you dave :)
the targa does run much faster times than the suby though. Stiff suspension, r compounds, no understeer, lightweightness, and good power really make a difference.
