Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two years? Hp? cosmetics? engine displacement? Im going to buy one this week. Just wanted to know if one year is better than the other.

pretty sure 01 and 02 didn't have any major differences.

03 have a touch more power, 04 again more power, 05, 07, then 09

that made me chuckle a little that works out to be even closer to nothing than it sounds when you reverse the math

It might be more insulation on the later model. I found some 01 with good miles for about the same amount of 02 with ok miles. Its not that big of a deal what year, I just thought that if one was better than the other I would get the better one. But it looks like it dont matter. I will post pics when the car materializes. I have springs and sway bars picked out allready. Even rims. My wife is going to kill me but its better than auto-x the GTR.

if your wanting a killer auto x track rat thats still fairly cheap and in the pcar family. the cayman S is a blast. i've checked out several recently

The Cayman would be awesome but I cant spend that much money. I want to spend less than 20k. I have found some nice cars between 16-21k miles being the biggest factor. Caymans are about 10k more.

mazdaspeed mx5.... I honestly can't believe Mark traded his for a boxster. If it doesn't have enough power, you can do a basic chip, intake, exhaust, intercooler and pick up a fairly good amount of HP.

nah, he wants a car for autoXing. boxster, miata, cayman, MR2, S2000, mini (maybe), etc etc would be what he is looking for. Boxster is definitely a good choice, but I would always be worried about the oil sump issues.

M3? been there done that. Great car but I want something I never had. Boxter S is what I want. Out of 5 Porsches I never owned a Boxter S. -LD the oil problems are not as much on the Boxters as they are on the Caymans-
