I have to say this was the best race this year. Not only was it a great race for BMW.Sauber but the heart wrenching action throughout the race was pure excitement for any race fan.

Spoiler Warning for those that havent' watched the entire race and are going to.

Congrats to Jensen Button on his first victory in 113 Grand Prixs. Now leading the list with the most races without a win is our very own Nick Heidfeld with 110. BMW's Nick Heidfeld was on the podium this race finishing third. He may have made it close to take 2nd but as he was passing Michael Schumacher, Schumi made contact with Nick and screwed up Nick's aligment so he had to take it easy on the last 4-6 laps. This damaged Schumi's front suspension and was forced to retire. As for Alonso he reitred several laps earlier with what first appeared to be a botched pit stop when the rear lug was not attached properly. What actually happened though was his Driveshaft failed. BMW's 2nd Car with first time race driver Robert Kubica finished 7th but was later DQ'd for coming in 2Kg under minimum weight requirements. This bumped the retired Michael Shcumacher into 8th place and 1 pt.

was kinda confused as to how the bmw driver got DQ'd and that made the retired schumacher finish 8th.. maybe there was a huge wreck and the rest of the cars were out ?

Grid is 22 Cars. Schumi retired with 3 laps to go. When he retired he was in 5th position with only 3 laps left only 3 other cars managed to complete more distance in the time it took for the leader to complete the race. Which means Schumi is qualified in 9th position even though technically more cars finished the race. When Robert Kubica was DQ'ed it bumped everyone up one spot that was behind him. Hence Massa went from 8th to 7th and got an extra point for Ferrari's constructors championship bid and Schumacher got a world drivers championship point for 8th place and 1 point for Ferrari.

As far as the DQ for the BMW driver it wasn't that the car itself was underweight. Because of the evolving strategy and a wreck that he got into early in the race they changed his strategy from a 2 stop to a 1 stop strategy. At the point where his pitstop took place the course was still predominatley wet so they put intermediate compound tires on. He ran these tires for 51 laps most of which were dry which chewed up a considerable portion of the tire up and hence put him under the minimum weight.

yeah like 20+ cars run, but they only give points up to a certain position

yeah the road course racers are normally much more talented than circle track drivers. *although* I was throughly impressed with the IROC race at daytonas road course track. Mark Martin (yayers!) was running second or third place before he got punted off by an impatient sam hornish jr..... I wish CART would get more support, and its sad that all the CART drivers are leaving and heading to IRL. IRL is nice and all but I think it should be all road courses with the exception of like 3-5 ovals. Not all ovals with the exception of 3-5 road courses.

Schumi made contact and cut off another driver, so he was bound to be called in for a penalty. So their wize strategy was to retire and in doing so, they stayed in the points range instead of being disqualified. He got 1 point, making the gap to 10 points, which Schumi will close no problem.

Schumi is the rain God, but these tires he had on were complete ****. The car was undriveable! Did anyone see the tires at the end when Schumi was in the pits? Completely bald and blistered. I will do a shout out on the next race for us.
