decided to glass the sides, the vinyl on the side panel was all scuffed and scratched from getting the box in and out when i built it, and its in the car for good so instead of trying to recover it on the car, i went this route. its working out easier than i had imagined.

My God, isn't that a bit overkill? I would think 2 to 4 speakers would have been plenty on each door, maybe a few behind the seats and 2 to 3 on the dash. I guess whatever floats your boat though. ;)

2 18's in a Mini is overkill too isnt it? haha

again, this is a bit overkill for me, but i fully support your decision to go this route. i have definitely NEVER seen an audio project this crazy in a Mini before, and i can't wait to see it all put together! in fact, i think this setup has the potential to rival some of those show-winning SUV's packed with audio shit, provided you're able to maintain a high level of SQ and tune it the way you want it. keep up the good work. and thanks for a picture upfate.

Very true, I would have been happy with one, but it is quite interesting. Would love to see how it sounds once it's done.

Wonder how much weight all that is adding though...

Would love to see peoples faces when you open your door and they see 8 speakers filling the entire door. :lmao:

working on the computer

10.4" VGA touchscreen

buying an ASUS Eee Box EBXB202. 8.8" x 7" x 1"

$298 at compusa, with Linux on it and 1GB ram, and a 1.6ghz intel atom CPU. ill load xp on it

will fit nicely in the glove box, and work quite well since MINI was kind enough to air condition the glove box.

cleaning up wires (they arent cleaned up in this pic, obviously)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/pimpedout92x/Mini%20Wall%20V2/DSCF3076.jpg

the a/c relocation wire from way back ago..need to build something for the actual a/c panel to sit in on the headliner where the sunroof controls used to be

cleaned it up under here a little better

sick project, i love it and can't wait to get a chance to let you make my ears bleed

if you need more software for the computer i think i still have some carPC front end stuff stand alone operating system designed to do everything with crazy fast shut down to start up time

linux/xp pissed me off when i had a carPC due to start up times and me not having one of the sweet power set ups that would just sleep the computer when i turned the ignition off and wake it up when i turned the car on

when you first started this project I thought you had a mental illness...

but now I realize that you are literally just trying to cram as much shit in the car as possible, which has pretty much never been done on your car before. i think it's going to be awesome when it's done.

How much weight is all this adding? I wonder if your handling will suffer...

i know exactly what you mean...i'm such a sucker for great SQ. but i'm also a stickler for performance as well, which is why i ended up with the audio build i have - the best possible blend of SQ, minimal number of components, minimal weight, and a clean and simple install. don't get me wrong - my system could certainly be improved upon, but that would without doubt further hinder my handling/performance, which i'm not willing to sacrifice any more than i already have. anyways, considering the system is pretty simple and that i'm pretty picky about my SQ, i'm actually more than satisfied with the way it sounds.
